Lack of movie toys shocking

I was at the local Meijer store tonight doing some shopping and thought I'd see what movie TFs they had. They had one (1) real gear figure and a few boxes of the Topps trading cards.

I also was at the local K-Mart they had protoforms , fast action battlers, and the voyager assortment. Voyagers are going for $21.99 and Protoforms $10.99. Surprised to see a major chain with marked up pricing; unless they're compensating for the being most pathetic store in the area.

Glad Wal*Mart and TRU have good selections at the proper pricing.

Part of it may be they are selling very well. For example I went to Target two weeks ago and the shelves were full of movie figures. I went back the following week and there were slim pickings. Same thing with one of my local Wal-Marts.

Meijer (4+ stores) at least around here has a display setup by produce, not by toys. It's stupid but hey, it's Meijer.

They have pretty much everything $1-$2 above MSRP much like TRU and Kmart. They do have Alternator's on clearance for $17.50 which isn't all that bad if the selection was better.

Gee, maybe my thoughts on Transformers clogging the shelves like most movie based figures are wrong. Maybe this will be a movie line that actaully becomes hard to find, and it woudl be good not to wait on clearance for some of them.

Some stores are slow getting on the ball too. My experience with Wal-Mart in Ontario is that they still haven't got any of the deluxe figures in. Only Voyager Blackout at Ratchet and a whole wall of protoform preview figures, whereas Canadian ToysrUs' have the whole wave one shibang

personally I was amazed to find any movie figues at all, my local stores (only two, and no major chains) are always way behind and one of them never stocks anything larger than a deluxe (there hasn't been anything bigger there since Machine Wars).... the other does... but only rarely... (almost nothing big since Energon Unicron)

But sure enough I entered one of them last week to find a freshly opened case of movie deluxes... For this town, that's a record...

In my area, they seem to be selling really well, except for the protoforms.

Yep.

Blackout, Voyager SS, and Leader Prime are very fast movers where I live.

The protoforms...well, they now pay rent at Wal-Mart, Toys R Us, and Target.

Well, I guess the price was a little high but that is because of it's detail if you buy the movie characters they stand out from the other ones.

all the walmarts in my area have stayed pretty stocked. maybe a little too stocked, i can't find the wave 2 or walmart exclusive robot heroes, but i am seeing leader megs all over the place. the leader class figures seem like they'll be around a while. and i think until the movie, these figures won't be flying off the shelves, some just a little more hard to find than others. but two weeks in, i have see every movie toy pretty regularly

I'm sure there will be more released just before the movie comes out. Plus we will probably be swimming in movie figures a few months after the movie. I wouldn't worry about it.

All of the stores in Columbus, OH are pretty well stocked. I just can't find FAB Frenzy.

Today, I went back to that same Meijer from the original post and the movie toys were in the main aisle by the frozen food. The store had tons of movie stuff: bed sheets, comforters, blankets, pillows, birthday party stuff (plates, napkins, party favors, etc.); it look like a TF invasion. BTW picked up voyager Starscream.
