Disappointed with both DOTM Deluxe Sideswipes

I was at TRU yesterday, and they had BOTH the new DOTM Sideswipe (convertible with MechTech weapon) and the Scan Series Sideswipe.

The DOTM MechTech one looks like an unpainted prototype, and the back (behind the seats, where the top would fold down) looks like there's a piece missing or something. It just looks like an unfinished product. #-o

I love the paint job on the Scan Series, but WHY OH WHY did they have to use the original SS mold, the one that has trouble standing, instead of the superior "Sidearm" mold? :BANG_HEAD:

Both are failures, in my book.

Because Sidearm is taken up by Walmart ;)

I still say the original RotF Sideswipe is better looking with his swords, even if he has problems standing. Love him :x

Sidearm Sideways may have been a Walmart exclusive (that's what you meant, right?), but surely that doesn't mean Hasbro can't ever use that mold again, does it?

(And yes, I called you Shirley.)

I think he's saying Walmart has a DOTM exclusive using the Sidearm Sideswipe mold already. That crappy blue and yellow racecar deco...

At least someone understands my writing. Still need to work on that...

OK, but still... that doesn't mean Walmart has a monopoly on that mold. If Hasbro wanted to, they could have used it for the TRU Scan version.

True, but then we'd get Race Car deco bladed Sideswipe :P

I'm still not following you. Are you saying that because Walmart got an exclusive repaint of the mold, Hasbro can't make any other repaints of that mold? Why couldn't they make race-deco Sidearm Sideswipe for Walmart and Scan Sidearm Sideswipe for TRU?

OK, the problem here is a lot of different figures had to be made in a short time, and a limited amount of molds to use. The upside here is that some characters received multiple molds within the same size class. So we can make, for instance, two Sideswipe toys at the same time, using his two different molds and even better, make multiple different Bumblebee toys using his three or more molds.

I actually really like the DOTM Deluxe Sideswipe. Yes, he is a dull gray plastic but the mold itself is fantastic.

i'm not too keen on the DOTM Sidesweipe, myself. It looks like an unfinished prototype to me too. But I really like the Scan series. I gotta find Ironhide now. I thought I saw someone mention there being four to the Scan series....is this true, who are the other two, and are they all going to be TRU Exclusives?

I think it's Bumblebee and Ratchet, but I'm prob wrong.
I have no problem with scan Series SS standing and making great poses. It was Ironhide that was a pain to transform, something was up with his head platform not coming all the way up. I just put a ton of pressure on it to make it pop into place. I figured if it broke I'd just go get another(although they seem to be disappearing fast.)

I'm a big fan of all the deluxe sideswipe molds.

Yea, the first has a bit of trouble standing, but he still looks, and poses great.

Sidearm may be by personal favorite, but I like the new mold as well.
The dull plastic look kind of sucks, but I expect they will put out a premium or something later. If not, I own paint.
