This looks like an alternate DOTM Shockwave color scheme

I think this is the color schemed they used to show shockwave in his DOTM box

Comparing the box picture, the prototype picture, and my actual in-hand action figure, I see no variation. Looks like the same color scheme to me.

I think it's a lighting issue, honestly.

I much prefer the darker purple, I won't lie, but what we currently have is quite nice.

Plus, if it were truly a match to the packaging picture, there'd be an orange button on the Mechtech.

The colour is totally different. The released version is a very red purple and this new pic is very blue.

Again, lighting. Teals, blues and purples are dynamic when it comes to lighting, looking like completely different shades in different lights.

Yep. This is why most photographers try to get things photographed in natural light(ie. sunlight) or bulbs specifically designed to imitate natural light as closely as possible, as it shows the true colors better than other lighting.

No, I think it's the same color, just different lighting, or difference in the way the camera processes color, or the way your monitor reproduces color: I have two monitors, and this color appears different on each.
