Based on the New movie Line, Would a Transtech toyline survive?

I was looking back into the older designs and images of Prototypes of transtech, and I said to myself, "you know what..if they released that series as a toyline and cartoon, I think it might actually do well, considering the new movie and all..

considering the designs for the movie and Transtech aren't too far off, it could happen. Though i think what transtech ended up was a destroyed concept and then reinvented to be the new transformers movie. Atleast that what it kinda looks like happened in my point of view..

take a look at some of these designs..although I gotta say I would have bought transtech Cheetor in a heart beat, as well as Starscream!! I mean after buying the movie toys..which remind me of transtech but instead of the future vehicles they are 2008 models and earlier, with g-1 mixed in..

Anyways, would you have bought transtech toys, after seeing where the movie designs went??

You're right, those faces look a lot like the movie designs. The bodies don't though. If this came out back in the day instead of RiD I probably would have bought them all. Looking at them now, I'd probably pass on the maximals and get the decepticons/vehicons. That cheetor is fugly but starscream is amazing.

At that time, I probably wouldn't have bought them since they seemed to be trying to get in on the whole "X-treme!!!" trend with those designs and I hate anything where marketers feel like they have to scream at me to get me to buy their product. I do kinda like the lineart for Megatron's tank mode, though.

Megatron looks almost as aweful as movie megs. And prime isnt too impresive either.

In the right colours that Starscream would beat movie SS hands down.

All in all though, I'd imagine the basic design ethic would have been too BW/BM for my tastes, I never really like the design ethics of those lines.

Starscream is cool, and would have made a much better movie design. Depth Charge is great as well, and I always adored that Soundwave design...

Honestly though, I don't think Transtech will ever see the light of day, but then again, stranger things have happened...

I like the shapes and designs of all but Megatron. I'd love to get my mits on the starscream.

9) Transtech toys now! Maybe not the whole line but just the marquee names: Optimus, Megatron, Starscream and a few others. I know some of the designs were used in A/E/C but I still want them. That Prime in Voyager or Leader class with the same treatment as Primal Prime would be amazing! Even if its just in Japan, I'll still buy it. Even without the show, I'll still buy it. And don't say it won't happen without a show: Robot Masters, Alternators, Classics, War Within. Hell, even Return of Convoy didn't have a show and I bought Star Convoy twice!

I posted that 5 days ago in Counterpunchs "Unpopular Transformers Opinions Volume 1: aka The War Within" forum and after that you listed 36 things, none of which mentioned Transtech. And Counterpunch pointed out with you:

Last week it was the RiD guys, the week before you were bent on Masterpiece, this week it's Beastwars.

Seriously, Skywarp2, with your known ties to Hasbro and your plain as day marketing questions, not to mention your constantly changing opinion on all but the baseline concensus, are you a real person? That's not to imply that you don't exist but that you're really some Hasbro marketing employee. Or, from the wavering opinions, half the marketing department.

Let's see what you've said that hasn't changed:
1) Takara is better than Hasbro
2) Michael Bay is a jerk
3) A/E/C sucked in general but some parts were awesome
4) Toys must look real but not too real cause that sucks
5) Diecast everything but not too much
6) Classics was a great line except that it sucked
7) Masterpiece is for G1 only

And it keeps going but its all baseline responses. It's the same thing as the generally accepted popular opinion. This week it's be "Beast Machines sucks!!!" then next week, "I think Hasbro should do a 10th Anniversary rerelease for Beast Machines? How cool would that be???"

And if you are just a very indecisive fan stop saying things suck because at this rate you love it and want it reissued be Hasbro but you'll want the Takara reissue soon enough anyway.

Ditto, and as far as cheetor goes, his head in that transformation image isn't showing, go back up to the design sheet and you'll see him.. he's kinda like a formula one racer, so i kinda like him...

But yeah Starscream is to die for awesome!!! i think the Megtron tank idea is okay, but I'm against all those treads.. he should be a hover tank of sorts similar to star wars or tron if they were to do transtech.. it'd make sense a hover tank versus a tread tank.. what were they thinking over at DHJ???

What are you on about, zodconvoy? Ties to Hasbro?? Huh? :-?

I think we got Transtech with the movie, and it's enough. The only one of those I really like is Starscream, and he needs a better head.

Seems like warp has a stalker.

The cocaine thing? You're joking right? A better analogy would be:
I love mountain dew, and I know without pepsi there would be no mountain dew, so I try crap like pepsi blue just because it's pepsi and they created the dew. This is of course assuming mountain dew is made by pepsi, I believe it is because of the transform your summer cap being on both sodas.

I have a feeling we'll see something like transtech in the new cartoon, but instead of the maximals we're going to get the movie autobots and maybe a couple others like prowl and wheeljack.

Very likely.

They'll just drop the whole 'beastial' vestiges of Transtech.

Apart from the the various concept sketches of Megatron's face I don't see any real similarity to the movie line in Transtech at all. The concept art all looks like a streamlined, less-blocky and slightly more organic G2 (not the reused G1 moulds) as opposed to the whole "skeleton made of car parts with exploded kibble all over" look of the movie characters. What extraneous detail was in Draxhall Jump's concept art would have obviously been dropped in toy form, as can be seen in the prototypes.

Maybe it's just me, but if the accompanying cartoon wasn't as tedious and plodding as Beast Machines and the scale and character assortments weren't as ridiculous (and the figures as quality as the prototypes) I think it could have been a success (though not as successful as kiddiefied Armada).

I'd have taken Transtech in a heartbeat. The more I look at the movie toys, the more fond I've become of the change in aesthetic. Not necessarily the designs - Megs still seems a wee freaky to me - but just taking a break from the same old song and dance.

If they were to ditch the beast Wars overtones, and change some of the heads, they would be a really sweet alternate universe.

I love Prime, Megatron, and Starscream.

I also kind of dig Shockwave.

Actually Counterpunch is very apt at making things look a certain way..

What you don't realize is that my perceptions and views have changed over the course of the last year, and thats due to my increasing knowledge of the Transformers universe. I have become more and more of a fan and opened my eyes to more possibilities then ever before.

So yeah to the untrained or an over assumption and unenlightened person I.E."Vicious Transfan posts" I can't make up my mind, but what you have seen is my slow awakening to the Beast Wars series, My eventual Liking of the new Movie, and the opinion that Hasbro isn't all bad.

Heck I had been out of the actual hobby for years due to my obsession with DC comics, and Marvel Comics, Marvel legends and DC direct..but after Dream Wave hit, I was back on the Transfan wagon..so yeah when i first came on the forum scene I was all about sticking up for Pat Lee, until i found out how he dicked over his employees.. and then saw the light of day..I like certain books from IDW, namely their Beast Wars gathering series, but not a fan of Escalations art or story.. never been a fan of Furhman..so I'm kinda on the bench on how i feel about IDW for now..

As far as my connections to Hasbro, my friend who works there I haven't seen in a very long time, we just recently as of last year got together and hung out in NY for awhile to catch up and I found out he was working at Hasbro..I had just joined Seibertron and was still new to the whole world of Transformers..beyond G-1..So when i saw the movie coming up and all, i was eager to find out inside info as soon as i could.. my friend would get some inside knowledge and pass it along.. soem things are being done, some aren't and thats due to how a major company works, they change alot..and sometimes at the last minute..

I am not an employee of Hasbro.. i wish i was, I could come up with some kick ass toy lines based on the Transformers.. but alas I'm just a fan too..as far as Hasbro polling us, who knows.. My friend did tell me that they browse our sites often, and relate the loudest voices and the most posts on a subject to product changes..they also have a committee that browses the GiJoe fan sites and Starwars figure sites to find out what fans and core groups think is cool.. and what Hasbro believes will sell..

So leave me alone, i'm learning and growing over time.. i've learned alot about other transformers series in the last year, and more then i have ever known was possible..

But I think my opinion is as such:
1) Takara is better than Hasbro, in packaging and in paint Applications, and QT control..but Hasbro is nearest and cheaper, but i have always found the Takara molds just overall better..
2) Michael Bay is a jerk, Don Murphy had to be for obvious reasons
3) A/E/C sucked in general but some parts were awesome, not many but some where.. Heck it was basically a rehash of G-1 so yeah thats true..there would be some redeeming aspects about it..
4) Toys must look real but not too real cause that sucks, yes realism is key to a successful toy.. paint applications and show accuracy should be key...too much realism would be costly and cause an 18 and up tag to go on it, and the series would fail..
5) Diecast in small amounts in most cases would be cool, but not the whole item..like Titaniums, which suffer because of too much Diecast
6) Classics was a great line, except that it sucked due to many items being reserved for highly expensive Botcon exclusives and it also died too quickly..Oh and megatron could have been done as a tank that looked closer to his original form, instead of a Damn Nerf Gun!!!
7) Masterpiece is for G1 only, but I would not mind Takara do a Masterpiece line that incorporates the movie bots.. call it MM-01 Movie Masterpiece..
8) Beast Machines was a terrible cartoon!! the toys were nice and all, but not really what beast wars should have turned into..
9) I loved RID, Beast Wars, BW Neo, BW 2, Transformers Victory, Transformers Zone, G-1, Robot Masters, and the Movie Line up..
10) i don't really like Headmasters, i have no specifics, i'm just not very keen on that series, even though it lends itself to Starsaber at some point...

Lastly, i liked the toy concept of what transtech was trying to bring, but not all the designs make me go oozy all over.. there are a few though that are just fascinating to me.. and I would love to have seen made.. like Silverbolt for instance

Any ways, in answer to your question, yes I'm a real person, but lets not assume **** about people and judge without understanding the reasoning behind their opinions and posts..I was simply opening myself to other lines and series, and over time as I learned more, I would change either my opinion or verify my initial one..thats why it seems like I keep on about new series or switching up, but its not every week or so, its like every other month...or 3 weeks.. besides who wants to read a rehashed post over and over again?? it'd be like hasbro producing a series like G-1 and using the major plot points over again rehashing unicron, galvatron, Starscream, ect...

Oh wait, they did that with A/E/C...

OK, what exactly is transtech? Is it like transmetals for non-beasties or what? When did these designs first appear and why were they not made?

As for Skywarp 2: It's a woman's prerogative to change her mind, but is it an evil jet transformer's? I just don't know...

Personally I don't care if we are being surveyed by Hasbro through forums like this. Better than not being listened to at all.
