Poor quality paint on Real Gear figures?

First off, I'm new to this site, and this is my first post. Hello, everyone!

Anyways, not sure if this has been brought up or not. Last weekend, I took my son to the zoo. He brought Real Gear Spy Shot with him. He had it in his pocket while we walked around. After about an hour, we sat down to get something to eat. When he took Spy Shot out of his pocket, all the red paint had rubbed off his one leg. I checked the paint in other areas of the figure, and it was a little tacky. Some blue had rubbed of his head, and some of the grey in other areas was beginning to wear off, as well.

It doesn't really get that hot here in Buffalo. I think it was only in the 70's. Is this normal for paint to come off this easily, or did Hasbro use some really poor quality paint for these figures? The figure was only about 12 hours old, but it looked like it was about 20 years.

Part of the reason I'm asking is I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. Thankfully, Toys R Us was understanding and let me exchange it for a new one.

I haven't bought any Real Gear toys, but that is an exceptionally odd thing to happen to any Transformers toy.

I'm 24 years old, so I wouldn't be handling my toys to the extent a child would, but I haven't seen any problems with my Real Gear Spyshot.

However, I just did a little scratch test on the paint with my thumb fingernail and, yes, a some of the orange paint flaked off.

Hmmm, I guess Hasbro did use some lesser quality paint, then. My son is 7, so his figures get some pretty extensive playtime. I can definitely see myself touching them up, in the future. :?

I kept my Real Gears in the box. I just knew that the paint would flake off. (A friend told me)

OooooOOOOooooh god, it's Action Master paint all over again!

(No joke, my Jazz and the orange car guy had their paint just crack after about 2 months, then chip off... happened to my cousin's, too...)

Mine don't seem to have that issues, tried a few scratch tests and they seem fine. Wonder if its specific waves that got a bad paint mix on them or something.
