Fun with a Black Light

I have a blacklight and haven't used it for a while, so I decided to put it up to see what my TF collection looked like under the blacklight.

What I found was very cool and in some cases unexplainable. MOST of the white shined as expected but some of the white didn't glow at all on different figures. I thought for sure TFA Sunstorm would look cool but didn't glow at all. Not even his white parts. On the other hand the missiles and cockpits on TFA Starscream and Skywarp glowed awesomely. The BLUE parts of TFA deluxe and voyager Primed glowed WHITE!

Universe Darkwind (Darkwing) glowed like a Christmas tree. Generations Blurr glowed WHITE!

By far the best one of the collection was Generations Wheeljack. All his colors came out in a beautiful neon glow.

These are some of the observations I don't feel like typing about every single figure but if you guys have blacklights, check it out it's pretty cool.

Yellows and orange seem to look really good too.
BW nightglider looks really good. His spark crystal was all glowing.
It's been a while since I've used mine, but I'll have to do it again.

Sorry guys, my camera just isn't a high quality enough to get real good photos in the dark but I took a few none the less. The pics don't do it justice though.

TFA deluxe Prime

Universe Darkwind

Generations Blurr. He looks blue in the pic but he is much whiter with a hint of blue to the naked eye. Also, Drift who is white doesn't reflect at all! Drift is standing right next to Blurr and you can't even see him.

My favorite and the cam does pic it up a little is Generations Wheeljack

Be very CAREFUL with blacklights.

They are notorious for speeding up yellowing on your figures.

Don't do it often or you will hate yourself for it.

It's not something I would be doing very often. maybe the occasional "check this out" moment but is that for real about the yellowing?

It's a good thing you didn't find any unexplainable "stains" in your collection.

Yep. A blacklight is LOADED with UV rays. UV rays are what causes the bromine in your plastic to react and yellow.

UV free light is what's needed to keep your collection happy.

I've noticed in the past what figures look like under black light. I have crested geckos that I turn a black light bulb on for at night. Battle Blades Prime looks pretty kick ass under the light. His red is like a fluorescent orange. ROTF voyager Megs looks like his missile is actually glowing. And his light piping is just downright creepy since it glows as well.
