I am LIVID!!!!

$600.00 for the third party devestator!?!?!?!?!? $600 DOLLARS FOR MY PRECIOUS MUST HAVE CONSTRUCTICONS?!?!?!? NOOOOOOOOO!!!! I feel as if I were just stomped in the jewels!
Why? I mean why? I understand they are a buisness and they are in the game to make a profit but why do they insist on making such a HUGE profit?!?!?!? Do these people have a concience? I am so tired of the way collectors are treated! What with the scalpers against you, the company who makes the product against you(more often than not these guys just cant ever seem to get enough of the popular figs out there.)
Then they want to use the same damn molds for half the figures and refues to produce alot of the ones that require a bit of hard work to manufactur) and now we have third partys making super toys that hasbro will not produce for us and because they know hasbro will not reward our loyalty with an all newly moulded devestator, the third party gets to charge us the price of an old used car! A whole months rent? Three months of insurance? Three weeks pay for any minimum wager? For action figures! crap!
Youd think we were collecting priceless paintings, or antiques or something. I hate the fact that these people know how passionate we are about our hoby and will therefore pay out the yin yang. Why cant they be half way reasonable about their prices? I am sorry for the rant but I was truely stoked on this devestator figure and to have the wind knocked out of my sails so hard just realy sucks bad.
I have paid three times what these figures are worth retail for eighty percent of my collection and its not right. I know nothing can be done about it because this is the usa and scalping isnt illeagle etc etc but damn!. It stinks so hard to see that those awesome constructicon figures are being made and that I will not be able to procure them because I will be unable to pony up that kind of cash.
I mean give me a break! Thats 100 dollars a figure! Why cant they be happy with fifty a figure? or even sixty? Thats roughly what.....four times what you can get em for on the shelf? SIGH........All well.
I am sure alot of folks will just tell me to cry a river or that its just sour grapes and I know that if I dont want em I dont have to buy em but I DO WANT EM. I want em alot! The constructicons (devastator) is my second favorite figure. He is the flagship big bot for the decepticons and I Will never be able to afford them at that price. I just wish there were more people out there with a concience.
Come on hasbro! Reward hordes of loyal old school fans with an acceptable, affordable devastator figure! Make him reasonably priced and readily available too for christs sake!...... Sorry again for the rant guys n gals.
End rant.

I don t think its so much about making a huge profit as it is a third party to cover costs. If it were Hasbro, they would be much cheaper, but Im sure if it were hasbro, they would be in different colors to try to grab the attention of people that can relate devastator to the movie. Best idea? If you're REALLY in love with that devastator, BBTS does a pile of loot thing, which you can preorder everything as it comes out. Save up money for the figure, and when you have the cash, ship the POL.

I'm With you there...I would've payed at least 200 for a 3rd party devastator. Then again, I always have the oppurtunity of Reissues :P

When I first heard the price I assumed that it was being released in two packs and thought it was too much.

Screw this noise. Then again, I don't really want it.

Except that BBTS requires you to pay for them as they come in and you need a CC to pay for the POL.

I'm going to be hated so much for this...

1. If you don't want to pay for it, don't buy it. It is an action figure after all. I know you want it, but it's still just an action figure. Besides, isn't there a G1 Encore version coming out?

2. Hasbro doesn't owe "the fans" anything. We are not entitled to every specific thing we want just because we bought (insert number here) of their action figures. (Is their a Transformers fans union that made Hasbro sign a contract for that that I'm not aware of?) Excluding the young children, "the fans" make up approximately 4% of Transformers sales; around 1000 people. It just makes too much sense for Hasbro to drop everything they're doing and cater to those 1000 people to attempt to sell exclusively to that 4%.

3. I can only assume from the ridiculous price of this Devastator figure that this company will learn their lesson. I don't know many people who would pay that much for a chunk of plastic. I doubt these are going to be sold out everywhere immediately, but then again I could be wrong.

Shouldn't this be in a different forum?

$100 per figure sounds about right with the 3rd party stuff. I mean, it's pretty steep, but I wasn't surprised at all. It's not like you're paying $600 for one figure .... you're paying that for six. These guys are smaller, so their stuff is way more expencive than Hasbro.

Hasbro did make a Classics Devestator. That release aside there's also the Build King repaint and the RotF version. All are much more reasonable in price, although not exactly what I wanted personally.

I do agree that the 3rd party stuff has gotten out of control, though. In term sof price, I mean. Not quite enough to make me livid, but enough to make me rethink something I'd usually just go and buy.

300 for the figure complete would have been reasonable to me after all was said and done.

Thankfully i'm not interested in him. The price immediately pushed him in to the "don't want it don't need it, it's not logical at that price and it looks stupid anyways" category in my mind which shuts off any and all interest in a figure.

It's a defense mechanism i adapted to combat high prices of certain figures. Quite effective.

I do love these constructicons, and the individual robot seems more in scale with the classics, however if you have the Bruticus and Superion, these guys are already out of date with this purchase.

As much as I'd like him, I don't have justification at spending that much for it. I'll stick with the classics Devy.

There is an alternative...the G1 reissue that's coming out along with all the CrazyDevy upgrades. With all those you have a respectable and accurate Devastator for about $300 or less. Here's what he looks like after:

I agree that this is the better option. Aesthetically and financially.

I applaud the effort that is going into the Hercules project but i can't get behind it cause of the cost factor. Unfortunately.

To be fair, I don't know that I'd go as far as saying this is the 'better' option, but it does look quite nice and is half the price. I certainly don't fault anyone for chosing this option...

I plan to get both TFC's and the re-issue. I'm hopeful CrazyDevy wraps all their add-ons up in one nice giftset and offer it at a bit friendlier price in honor of this release. If so, I'd be all over this set as well!

At $97.99 x 6 figures, that's $587.94, before shipping. Close enough to $600 for my purposes.

Here's a secret: if the card you have on file there is expired, it won't run, they'll still hold it for a while and you'll have ALL their payment options. They only require CC for preorders.

Nah, I don't think you'll be hated. You got good points.

!. You're right, we don't have to pay for it. I'm not, unless the circumstances fall in my favor. And i'm getting the G1 Encore. Besides I do like the Encore better, simply because G1 is where it started.

2. You're right. We aren't entitled to certain things from Hasbro for buying their stuff, but at the same time if it weren't for us, Hasbro wouldn't have business. I think, also, that there are way more than a thousand collectors out there. I counted 1010 members on 30 of 486 pages (and that's just people who actually post on the site), plus I know a few collectors myself who aren't on here.

3. I hope that that they do learn from this too, assuming the cost/profit ratio is extreme. But how much it cost them to make these guys isn't known.

So here's to hoping and not being surprised when it doesn't go my way.....

You shouldn't be hated for your opinion. Especially since you aren't attacking anyone. However, I don't know if you are using the 4%/1000 collectors as a simple easy example or if you are serious with those numbers. Those numbers are way off. There many thousands of adult TF collectors world wide.

Yeah I know. I am well aware that I dont have to buy them. It would be nice however to decide not to buy them because I dont want them and not because I havent built up enough equity in my home to to get a loan and buy theese figures. I am also aware that I am not owed anything by hasbro.
Since I am a collector and fan of their product however (as are many many collectors. Alot more than your giving credit for) the decent thing to do, owed to us or not and reguardless of the fact that no binding contracts were signed, would be to offer us a collectors club or something. A way to get figures only collectors would want into our hands at enough of a mark up to pay for the new mould and still make a profit, but not force us to choose between a figure and oh say.... HALF A YEARS WORTH OF ELECTRICITY!
There are enough fans to justify this. Mattel has done it for heman and motu hasnt had a line sold retail for damn near a decade. If motu has enough fans to make a collectors club lucerative then Im pretty sure transformers does.
Again, I know its not owed but it should be done. Particularly when concidering our passed and continued support of their product and concidering our passion for the classics line and desire for theese figures. At the end of the day I guess it comes down to being a decent company that respects and aprieciates its fans/supporters.

Now if youll excues me I have to go find a way to make six hundred dollars. :BANG_HEAD:
