Can I get some info on this figure? I was wondering How big he is.
I have got a few figures now that shocked me when I saw their size. Universe Galvatron and universe prime to name two.
So, is Grimlock closer to size with universe prime and galvatron, or say red alert or iron hide? Im hoping to get info on all dimensions. Height, width and circumfrence. Thank you guys.
Scott.

Im sorry to litter the forum with so many questions but it isnt easy sometimes to sort through all the versions of some of theese figs.
My question is was ol universe grimlock released with his fellow dinos?
That is are there universe, classics, or generations versions of the dinobots and if so are they up to par with their toon/comic characters?
Thanks,
Scott.

Grimlock is from Classics, the line before Grimlock. He's a deluxe so is in the Prowl/Jazz/Ironhide scale. He is the only Dinobot they've made thus far.

This question and the other thread about the rest of the Dinobots really should've been posted together with a more descriptive title. The info is also easily available on the wiki or over on tfu.

I'm not blasting you or anything. Just trying to provide resources.

Yeah Classics Grimlock is pretty tiny really. He would have been better off being a voyager. If you're going to get him though, try and grab the Henkei version.

I'd just refer to everything as "Classics" as you're less likely to get people jumping down your throat about which line it is (which hasn't happened in this thread, but your previous ones) as that's typically the generally accepted term for the Classics/Universe/Generations/etc lines. That or some refer to it as CHUG or CHUGRU or something like that, but that might get you bludgeoned in some circles...

As for Grimlock, he's okay. I don't like his dragon boots, but he has a nice dino mode. Some use MP Grimlock for their Classics Grimlock, but I think he's way too big for that to work..

There are no other Dinobots in any of the Classics/Universe/Generations/Reveal the Shield Lines. Only Grimlock was released and it was still under the Classics Banner for all intents and purposes.

There is however a set of 4 Minicon Dinobots out now if I'm not mistaken. Though one of them is a mammal not a dinosaur.

I agree. His Dino mode almost works but the robot mode is entirely to big.

Nope, not unless you count Universe Dinobot which is a classics version of Beast Wars Dinobot.

You could always have Universe Dinobot repainted like a dalmation and call him Grimlock :P

He's not, though. He's roughly the same size as the original was, anyway.

Anyway, there aren't any other Classics/Universe Dinobots, but there is an Energon Grimlock/Swoop set that was originally supposed to be for Universe but got shuffled around for various reasons. And they combine...

Meet Beast Wars Grimlock. Here:

and here:

The original figure suffers from Gold Plastic Syndrome, a condition in which the gold plastic parts become very brittle over time, and eventually just break when you as much as breathe on them.

I see what you mean. I just put Kup in front of robot mode MP Grim, and the deluxe's head comes up to Grimlocks robo-happy-place. Strangely, whilst I normally prefer most of my characters to have similar sized robot modes it doesn't bother me too much with Grimlock. The dino mode is a great size for interacting with other Classics, and both modes represent the character so well.

I've actually been incorporating some more Legends and Scout classed figures into my Classics collection (although mostly just those who were smaller to begin with, Mini-bots and the like) so it makes sense that some would be larger than the standard deluxe-voyager size as well. Cliffjumper is like my Gary Coleman sized TF, whilst Grimlock is my Michael Jordan.

edit: would still love more Classics Dinobots though, even just in deluxe or voyager size. I think Sludge would need bigger packaging to allow for the neck, and heck, make Slag that size too, since he's awesome. Swoop and Snarl could probably get away with being deluxes.

WRONGGG!

(OK, they are not the original dinos, but they are original Classic Dinobots.)

Also, there is the PCC combiner Dinobot team (which I really need to hunt down, and quickly) who are great adds to the original dinobot team.

Also also, Animated Swoop makes a great Classics Swoop:

I'd like to add that Classics Swoop was made into G1 Swoop by the Collector's Club, and the previous third member, called Hacksaw, turned into a Stegosaurus. I say previous because he was killed off :P

Ani Swoop is a great Classics Swoop. I never used him for anything else. Just wish someone would come up with some rocket launchers for his wings.

Oh yeah, Energon Dinobots will cost you a small fortune to pick up, for whatever reason. I sold mine off when I found out what they were going for years ago.

I mean compared to the other classics figures. IMO, he should at least stand eye to eye with Prime.

I really like the animated Swoop figure but for me, it just doesn't work with the classics aesthetics.

Grimlock and swoop combining is kinda cool. I always thought they would eventually make the dinos form into a giant robot the way devestator, prediking do. It never happened though obviously. That would be one powerfull, bad ass robo.

Looks like TFC has this very thing in the works, too. My wallet is happy to report that I personally have no interest in a Dino-combiner and the individual figs don't look accurate enough for me to care otherwise.

the mini guy? shame. a slight tweak here and there of the animated version could give me a decent enough Swoop that I'd buy. Wouldn't mind a WFC/WW styled Divebomb either.

Actually, in many of the earlier appearances of the Dinobots in G1, Grimlock was TALLER than Prime. MP Grimlock is about Ultra size class, and only slightly larger than FP City Commander armored up, so he fits just fine in my opinion.
