Toys'R'Us has announced their upcoming exclusive Masterpiece Rodimus will be available for purchase at this year's SDCC. Great news for those of you who will be attending the event and want to get your hands on this guy a little ahead of his official retail release.

TRANSFORMERS collectors can own the heroic Rodimus Prime in this re-creation of the classic G1 action figure! Best known as Optimus Prime's successor to the Autobot Matrix of Leadership, this fan- favorite character can transform into his Winnebago vehicle mode. Set includes a miniature ally, the Target-Master Offshoot, a buzz saw and the legendary Matrix of Leadership.

I'm so friggin sick of Hasbro with the SDCC exclusives.
Stop selling them there, I live five hours away, I don't feel like driving there to wait in line HOURS, to get something you should put on Hasbro toy shop

Thought we were told that this was going to be in the Toys R US stores by July??
Now it is going to be first released at SDCC as an exclusive during the show July 21st - July 24th.
So when can we expect this in our local Toys R US ?????

Well, there IS that whole week after...
My guess, TRU is getting them in, sending them along to SDCC, and they'll be on the trucks that week.

Winnebago? How about a sports car? No trailer included. And that's their own press release? Sheesh.

As far as the actual SDCC exclusives, they do the Monday following. How long they last is another story... Although this year's TF exclusive are pretty lame unless you're into packaging. Will be nice not having to fight with their slow ass site this year!

Glad to see Rodimus will be in stores shortly. I have to wonder which version he will be. I'm only curious because I've heard that the original had a lot of qc and design issues. Hope they fixed them at least for our release otherwise I would regrettably have to pass

Can we get a larger picture? And I'm also interested about that Platinum Master Chief they're coming out with.

They clearly stated that they're not exclusives. Damn, get a hold of yourselves!

Actually MP Rod IS an exclusive, it's just not an SDCC exclusive...which I was fully aware of, thanks. Which is also why I clearly stated THE
ACTUAL SDCC EXCLUSIVES are available via the site the following Monday.

Nice. Everything is going as i hoped it would. This booth will be the first stop on preview night as MP Grimlock was last year. Chalk me up. Hope he's $50. Dunno why everyone's confused and debating about exclusives. He will be just as Grim was last year - a TRU exclusive being offered available early at EE booth. Bad part about last year, no real extra goodies/freebies came with purchase. Good part - I saw Steve Sansweet in line (the god of SW collecting) and chatted with him for a minute. Dunno what he was buying.

I can't wait for this to hit the stores. Looks awesome! Could you consider this one of the largest Targetmasters produced?

Will he still have an interchangeable face? If so, I'll get him to display him as Hot Rod with Firebol...er, I mean Offshoot.

Counterpunch quotes Counterpunch quoting Counterpunch... that's like... Counterpunchception! WE NEED TO GO DEEPER!!!
...aaaannyway...
I must wonder though, why stick the Prime on the end of his name when nothing about this toy (save for the face switching and height changing gimmicks already present in the mold) says "Rodimus Prime"? I'da been fine with them just calling him Masterpiece Rodimus (being that Hot Rod is a forever lost name option) but calling him Prime demands that he be Prime like. The painted versions of G1 Hot Rod's stickers, the inclusion of the targetmaster (Which, by the way, is awesome!) and the lack of the camper (I refuse to call that sh*t a "trailer") make this toy decidedly
un-Prime.
Granted I rarely give a damn what a toy's called on the box, it still kinda irks me.
Despite my gripes about the name, I'm totally stoked for this release, and damn all you lucky bastards going to SDCC that get a chance to get him earlier! (For that matter, damn you for getting to go to SDCC in the first place!

)

After 3 seekers and Grimlock, Im done with the MP line. The scale makes them stand-alone pieces that really dont go with my collection. (except Grimlock cause he is supposed to be big) I wish I-Gear would make the other 4 Dinobots instead of MP Ironhide and Ratchet. I would buy them in a heartbeat !!!
