Getting the TF: Prime Toys...

Now those of you who know me even sort-of well know that I keep my "What I Collect" and "What I Don't Collect" lines strictly to pseudo-classics. For a long time after seeing the TF: Prime toy images at Botcon and around Seibs I was still debating whether or not to get them, eventually coming to the conclusion that I may get a couple to fit into my Classics lineup (I'm looking at you Bulkhead).

Then today that changed.

I don't know why it did, but I was watching the latest TF: Prime episode with Arcee vs Airachnid and Bulkhead vs Breakdown when all of a sudden I said to myself "Looks like I'll be getting all of these figures."

I can't even say why in particular. Coming at it objectively, their stylings boarder movie-verse in some senses, animated in others and neither lines I have on my shelves. I think it came down to the overall tone and writings of the show that turned me on to them. IMO of course as there are haters out there but I certainly believe this show fast outdoes anything post-Beast Wars in character portrayal, and to have those characters on my shelves would be pretty fulfilling to me.

Am I the only one?

I'm completely with you. I can't wait for all of these bots to make it onto my shelf. I am holding out for larger sized OP and Megs. I love this show. Even my wife likes to sit down and watch it with me (though, I don't think she would admit to that in public). TF: Prime is win, win, win.

Same here. I was a little iffy when I first learned about the show, but with each new episode, the plot and designs just grew on me--particularly Breakdown, OP and Megatron.

I'll definitely be getting Arcee when wave 1 hits the stores, and will wait for a review before I commit to Bumblebee. Holding out for voyager class OP and Megs.

I love the show mainly because of the incredible graphics. In HD it is awesome.

I agree that it's the best cartoon since Beast Wars but sadly still not as good.

I like the aesthetic because it's close to Movieverse, as a hater of the Animated aesthetic I'm okay with it because it's not so extreme. I'll be buying the toys if they manage to replicate the CGI. Prime is disappointing but I can't have Megatron with an OP so he'll be bought as well.

I agree with you 100%. I'm a huge fan of the show, especially Arcee and Blackarachnia (I'm never going to call her Arachnid). They just get so much character development on the show. I'm definitely getting ALL of the main cast, which is a first for me because I've never done this (Not even with Beast Wars or Animated). IMO, this show has the potential to be greater than Beast Wars. And to those doubting, let's just remember that the first season of Beast Wars was nothing to write home about. Things didn't really start to get interested until halfway through the second season.

I just wish Optimus would get a little more development. It's pretty odd that the writers are focusing so little on Prime when the show is named after him.

I see the movieverse meets G-1 kinda here. Lets take movie bumblebee and change him ever so slightly.... lets take movie prime and give him the G-1 paintjob.... Ratchet has some G1 attitude.

I do love bulkhead. A little dissapointed with Soundwave's alt mode but ehhh...it's different.

Its a good show that walks that line between kids show and one for the long term fans. Only Bumblebees buzzings and Prime's slightly over goody goody manner let it down IMHO.

The Transformer characters are all pretty interesting. Having Megatron have his proper voice really adds to the show. I like the fact that Soundwave is mostly silent and seems to be onto Starscreams plans to overthrow Megatron.

If the final figures look as good as the images I have seen so far then I think this will be a good line and while I may not get them all I will certainly be adding a number to my collection.

He's coming. The told us so at Botcon. IIRC, he's getting both a Cyberverse(Legions, I think) and Deluxe. Yes, they're keeping the Cyberverse name/line.

I'm still not completely sold on this line. I imagine I will buy them but I want to see and hold them in stores first.

Damn. It's like Animated all over again. The show comes out, then you have to wait a year for the toys.

Does anyone know/think Optimus and Megatron will get Leader versions from Prime and will they be available in the UK?

I gotta ask the question then: why?

IMO She's the one I'm most interested in to see how they can pull off in toy form, given that she has a robot, a helicopter and a pseudo-spider mode.

I suspect each will be getting voyager classes at least. And it's way too soon to know distribution.

There's no way they can get a helicopter mode into Arachnid without a fair bit of kibble and I think that will look quite bad. Spider mode only I predict, if it happens.

Not a chance. ;)

Her "spider" legs are the helicopter blades. Robot legs go together to form the tail section of the helicopter. As such, her spider mode is really just a partially transformed state.

An Airachnid toy will definitely have a helicopter mode. I do think it's a strong possibility that the spider mode will be something of a half-measure: something that will look reasonably cool, but not be terribly functional in terms of being able to pose while supporting its weight on the spider legs. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the spider legs can't even touch the ground.

And I'll be very surprised if we don't get an Airachnid toy. She's one of the best characters on the show. The only Decepticons who've had more exposure and characterization than she's had are Megatron and Starscream. (Soundwave may have appeared in more episodes; but he might as well be an appliance 90% of the time.) And Gina Torres rocks. To make this sort of investment in the character and not try to cash in with some plastic just wouldn't make sense.

I'm hoping for a Voyager class (or equivalent) figure: she's bigger than Arcee and I'm skeptical that her conversion can be done justice in a Deluxe figure.

See I think that there is too much bulk in the helicopter to form her body in bot mode. A spider would be easier to form. I can see that the legs would be the copters blades but the helicopter body would prove to be hard to mask in bot mode. Arachnid is quite slender.
