Is silverstreak the same character as Bluestreak? Is this another jetfire/skyfire thing I missed yrs ago?

The original toy was silver, so, it kind of stuck I think.

Yes, Bluestreak is Silverstreak. The origin of those names is quite interesting:

First of "Bluestreak" was based on a deco only found in Diaclone, with blue and silver. Images of that version are actually found in early TF catalogs and has led people to believe they once had a blue Bluestreak. The actual G1 toy however was complete silver.
In comes the Toys 'R Us reissue line, 2003. By then, "Bluestreak" was unavailable for Hasbro to claim. So they gave him the name "Silverstreak" instead, which makes more sense. Hasbro now currently owns both names, and has used "Bluestreak" on a Speed Stars toy.

By the by, Takara never had any problems, since he's called "Streak" in Japan.

Unlike many random TF name changes, I don't much mind the Streak changing colour. For starters, he is now no longer associated with a bad Martin Lawrence film (is there any other? Bad Boys, aside) and also whilst Silverstreak doesn't actually mean anything, Bluestreak never really got all sweary, so his name was a bit redundant. Kind of like Slag, I never once saw him sleeping around.

Casey Kasem, voice of said character, has run a blue streak before, find it, it's hilarious.
