Hi guys, I just seek some clarification, since I heard conflicting reports of the upcoming Takara ownn release of the Ultimate Prime mold, which according to some will be exactly the same with the US release except for an inclusion of trading card while other says this Takara version will sport a more "bling" paint job so which is the truth???

Following the trend of other figures, Takara's Ultimate Prime will be exactly the same as Hasbro's. The "blinged out" bit probably refers to DA-28 which is that Leader retool, even that is still unconfirmed and possibly just a sales pitch.

In Singapore it's been really easy to get a hold of the Takara versions and looking at every single one that's come out, there will be next to ZERO difference.

Since the 2007 movie, it's always been a pleasant experience to look at the Takara versions and see how much better they are than the Hasbro ones in terms of paint apps. But this current DOTM line has been a major disappointment. It's almost like someone gave up on these figures. Complaints like the smaller size, ridiculous laziness such as Deluxe Skids and Mudflap abound. To me, a clear signal of the way things would go was Sideswipe. I remember a whole bunch of us collector waiting to check out Sideswipe after getting the "pre-order in" notification, and the jaw dropping expletive-filled surprise when we saw that absolutely nothing was done. If there was ANY difference to be painted differently, Sideswipe would have been it. Instead, NOTHING.

So, don't hold your breath.

Takara's always been the same when it comes to the first wave of figures, even in the 2007 Movie and ROTF. It is the latter portions of the waves where Takara begins to defer their figures. DOTM is no different. And I'll take it. I'd rather have Tak exclusive Arcee, Air Raid, Vortex and Skywarp, then tiny variants of all of Hasbro's figures.

I think the Supreme Class figure is going to be something different, considering my original source of this information was that it was 16k Yen. If it's just a re-release of the Hasbro's Ultimate version, then that's retarded.

16,000 Yen? *calculates* That's the equivalent of roughly $200! Your contact doesn't have a designation number, does he?

Well it is true, the stated price by Takara is Yen16000, and ultimate prime was shown in the Tokyo Toy Fair, in that display it has no difference from Hasbro's version. Quite pointless to get it since it has no difference and so expensive.
