Astrotrain was in the comic prequel. Are we going to get one of these or not? I'd be interested to see what a DOTM Astrotrain would look like....

If it were made, I'd love to see a voyager sized, but hasbro would probably do a deluxe just to continue the "doesn't make sense theme".

Ya a voyager astrotrain would be beast, but would it be a cybertonien design, or an earth train and a space shuttle. Id like it to be earth form so i would have someone to fight team bullet train ( once i get a team bullet train).

When RotF Soundwave was released and marketed as a Triplechanger, somebody mentioned Hasbro wanted to reserve the term for the third movie. Maybe he's the reason?
FYI I only acknowledge the satellite mode of that toy.

When did that happen? I don't recall it being marketed as a Triplechanger. What was the third mode?

It was a failed jet mode from the satellite mode. Only the wings shifted down a bit. Just google ROTF Soundwave and his package even said Triplechanger And the back of his packaging shows the 3 modes. it's a cheap attempt.

True triple changers (with 2 alt modes that make sense/ aren't 'adjustments'/ isn't a 'base' or weapon) are few and far between. IMO G1 Astrotrain and Blitzwing where the last ones.

Aside from all the other G1 Trips you forgot, there's also:
G2 Dreadwing
Energon Scorponok
Cybertron Megatron and Galvatron
Classics Astrotrain
Animated Blitzwing
Universe Tankor/Octane

Octane was quite a good attempt... although the universe one had a huge comb

I'll acknowledge Octane, my bad. Broadside has a horribkle jetmode and Springer is really more of an adjustment then a third mode.

Classics Astrotrain was a legitimate TC, just like the G1 version. Sure, it has kibble, but so did the G1 version.
Animated Blitzwing is a legit TC too. Sure, the jet mode has tank treads, but the G1 version's jet mode had a tank turret on the bottom, unless you removed it, and then you had to just set it aside. So Animated Blitzy is just as legitimate of a TC as the G1 Blitzy.

Animated Blitzwing has a good jetmode, but that tank is (yes) fun, but seems like an afterthought. But he's excused for being a great toy with loads of features. So there.
I forgot about Sandstorm. But then again, I always do.
Threadjack!
