Difference between Classics Primes

If I put this thread in the wrong forum, I apologize. I figure I had a 50/50 shot at getting it right.

I just purchased and ordered a Classics Henkei Prime from TFSource:

Other than mine being Japanese and the one below being American made by Hasbro (I think), what if any, are the differences in materials, appearance, durability, etc.:

I got the Classics Henkei for $72 with shipping. So far, that is the lowest price I've seen on the Japanese figure (where available). Should arrive tomorrow. :BOT:

There's different paint apps on the two and the Henkei version has chromed areas.

Here's a shot showing some of the differences in alt mode appearance. The foreground is Classics, the back is Henkei.

And again, Henkei does not mean KO, it simply the Japanese name for the Classics/Universe line.

It is true there are KO's of the Classics Voyager Prime around, in Japanese packaging, but online stores like TFSource are truthful in what they offer, so you're safe. As of now, those KO's are only available from KOtoys.com, so don't go there ;)

Thank you. I wasn't sure, so I had to ask. I'd only bought the Matrix Upgrade from TFSource before, so it's good to know that this is a real Takara and not a knock off. I guess it was the good price that through me off. I've seen the Henkei's for as high as $125 on some sites. And I will definitely avoid that one you mentioned. :BOT:

Moving it to toys forum, the KO and 3rd party forum is only for KOs (Knock Offs, Bootlegs, Fakes) and unofficial 3rd party stuff. And not for official toys.

Sorry. I knew there was half a chance I got it wrong. Flipped a coin and chose wrong. I'm glad to know it's not a knock off. The trailers/armor, on the other hand, probably are. :BOT:

For the trailer/armor it depends. Though there are some KO's of them the original Armor's are not Hasbro or Takara made, but a third party company. Since they aren't knocking off any official product merely adding onto existing ones they are not considered KO's.

To be honest, I like Henkei Prime the most. I didn't get him at first because the pics of his differences were minor, but when in hand he reminds me so much or G1 Prime. The main differences are the shades of blue and red. The red on Henkei Prime is deeper and the blue is much darker. Henkei has the hole arm painted red, while the Classics has grey unpainted joints. The shoulder emblems are red with autobot logos on each side. The upper legs are silver.

Hmmmm.... Well the Henkei Prime was the only one available at the time at TFSource.com. Looks like I lucked up and got the better version. Finding armor for it at an affordable price is proving to be challenging...

Not sure what you mean exactly by affordable, but Toyarena still has DIA Commander in stock for around $120 USD:

I doubt you'll find the non-KO cheaper elsewhere.

$120 is affordable. I've been seeing City Commander and the other armors for $249 to over $300. $120 definitely works for me!! Order placed and in processing. THANK YOU for providing me with a place to get the DIA Commander trailer/armor at an "affordable price" less than half below what I've seen it sold for anywhere else (where it is still available). And this is a highly collectible limited run armor for less than the City Commander Armor. That takes care of the OP portion of my collection. :BOT:

The Classics Henkei will arrive tomorrow. The DIA Commander should probably arrive by Friday. Since the Classics Henkei is a Takara product but the DIA Commander isn't an "official Hasbro or Takara product", I should probably make the figure thread here and the Trailer/armor add on thread in KO, right? And if I go ahead with my "crazy idea" of somehow getting my Matrix of leadership behind the windshield in this figure, that would go in the Kitbashing thread, even though it's a minor mod, right? I'd love to finally post the right topic in the right place.

if i may be so bold, the armor is nice, but for Prime, a true trailer is a great thing to go for.

this one is even combatable with the armor

I've got a G1 Trailer already for it. I've seen that one but picked up the G1 earlier for less.

I'm with this guy. The G3 Trailer is amazing & the DIA armor you just bought can be pulled behind it.

I know, but $200 is the extent of my expenditures on this hobby, this pay period. Next thing I get(besides more Decepticons), will be that trailer. For now, the G1 trailer plus this armor, will do just fine.

Well I can understand being on a budget. I'm in the same boat but here's a couple pics to peak your interest.

I forgot how much I loved that trailer.

Oh I've seen it on TFSource.com and it's definitely on my radar. I just happened to get a G1 Trailer off ebay last week in perfect condition on the cheap (with a roughed up G1 Prime). So it's certainly a planned OP Upgrade in the near future.

Oh believe me, I'm going to get that trailer at some point. But I really need more Decepticons in my collection and I've also got to custom fabricate some upper rear wings for my ROTF RAMJET. My son lost them before he gave it to me.

Well third party wise, FP Explorer, Munisioner, and both Causality figures are great Cons. You also have the PE guys which are all really cool.

Walmart is slim pickings for Decepticons. Haven't been to Target. Will likely get the Decepticons online. I've got RAMJET and the DOTM Thundercracker. Need Skywarp, but not the DOTM Skywarp. Maybe Starscream too.
