Ah, I guess this does give me an excuse to bring these up again. Especially in contrast to SIEGE:

Even the Full Moon designers understood that Broadside needed to be Titan Class to be viable.

I would love to see another go at the WFC/FOC designs. those were so damn good

I dug out my DotM Cyberverse Dreads trio.
Woah. I remember how they were so GOOD. Especially Hatchet.

I guess having a SS Leader class DotM Hatchet with that jet altmode with his two drones would be too much to ask...

The Vehicons

In many respects, the purest form of Transformers IE Giant Alien Robots. Inarguably the best figures of their respective series. Yet it occurred to me recently, something was missing from their numbers. From Beast Machines altogether. A Gestalt.

Discounting the Maximals immediately. As not only would a combiner team not save their faction's representation from being overall aesthetically poor (barring a couple of exceptions). Chances are a BM Maximal Gestalt would look like an abhorrent freak of nature.

Which brings me back to Vehicons. Now given their variety, a singular Vehicon Gestalt among the various designs wouldn't really work. You couldn't really combine Jetstorm with Scavenger and a Spy Streak, expecting something that could stand upright. So then I thought on their mass produced/cloned nature and how that could be applied. With the Ultra Class Jetstorm in mind also.
A connector port with each individual figure.
Six Basic Class Scavengers join together to form a Deluxe Class "Inferno" Gestalt (nice bit of name reappropriation, I thought). Likewise, five Deluxe Class figures (Blastcharge, for example), combine into a Mega Class "Blastrax" Gestalt, too.

Alas, I've given more thought into adapting and expanding the Vehicon line than HasTak likely ever will again... :(

A BM Vehicons combiner would make perfect sense. I see that as a six members team, all deluxes (or voyagers because why not) combining into a mighty bot. Eh, why not make it a SEVEN members team, with BM Megatron acting as the head?

One day, I'll say "screw it" and just build my own. :-?

It would be great if BM Megs attached to the Vehicons like that.

We did get that Deluxe Thrilling 30 Tankor who also featured in the comics so at least Archer put some thought into Beast Machines. If the title "Legacy" means anything I would like to see at least a new cartoon accurate Jetstorm and Thrust in the next couple years.

This invites an interesting question: Masterpiece Vehicons, Cartoon or Toy Accurate? They would certainly look better as the latter but, that's not really the direction the MP line has taken since MP 10.

Cartoon for sure since that's Takara's MP MO.

Indeed. Yet, bringing it out of a general MP discussion and back to this thread specifically. One of them would clearly look a lot better as an MP figure than the other...

One thing we will never have is a TOY ACCURATE MP Beast Machine Savage Noble. That thing kick ass but people at the time were bitching about lack of show accuracy.

Beast Machines. One of the rare examples of where show accuracy is a Bad Thing.

When it came to the Maximals, ho yeah. The poster child of what can go wrong when the animation studio is given too much freedom, and overall designs are changed past points of no return.

Oh boy.... This also resulted in one of the worst TF ever, where Silverbolt literally just do a handstand to "transform".

One thing I think Beast Machines did really well was the beast modes:

While it's not possible for a celebration of Transformers Animated Tenth anniversary, one way that Hastak could do for future anniversaries, since we are not guaranted to get new molds for Animated characters,is to give their colors to more recent molds.

Honestly, as much as new figures of those characters would be preferable for most, there are some that I agree this would work for, or at the very least they could make those kind of repaints into new characters and then do proper updates later (Redwing is basically an Armada Screamer-colored G1 Seeker, after all). That Soundwave looks great, the majority won't complain about more Seekers, and I saw art very similar to this somewhere using Prime Soundwave's color scheme and visor face on the G1 body and I loved it.

But also Commander Class Lugnut for that anniversary please

We all wished for a Leader Animated Lugnut early in this thread. That was at the time where leaders were huge with lights and sound. Having an update of the stellar RTS voyager in Commander class would be awesome for sure... If his altmode is that kick-ass WW2 bomber:

WFC seems to be coming to a end. It's be uncertain if we get WFC/Generations updates for these. Unless hasbro knows people want to see revisits for these figures

Maximal K-9 (Wolf figure original beast wars)
Fuzors: Silverbolt hasn't been confirmed. last time we saw him was the purple zombie universe figure.
Fuzor Quickstrike
Transmetal Rhinox
Transmetal Cheetor
Transmetal Rattrap
Transmetal Waspinator (red bug jet)

With the repurposing of Micromaster playsets into figures for WFC, as well as the upcoming Legacy line. It got me thinking about other such figures that could bridge that gap.

Image

Snarler, for example. When even Actionmasters have been revived ala RED. No one has attempted the Pretender gimmick in a long time. So why not just make them straight up regular Transformers ala IDW's Stormbringer?

Beast-themed? Check
Could look a lot better with modern engineering? Check
Redeco potential, as BW's Razorbeast? Check

Yeah pretenders are tough. Other than the tiny homages we got as Prime Masters in the PotP, I'm not sure how they could be done. I'm sure some fans would be ok with bringing back the characters without the outer shells, but then they'd no longer be pretenders, just standard Deluxe, Voyager, and Leader size toys. In a comic, you can get by with a character without its toy gimmick, but for toys it's much more difficult.

Mattel has tried over the years to get just one MOTU character (King Hiss) right, which is the closest equivalent to a Pretender I can think of. The different figures have had varying degrees of success. I'm sure there is way using modern engineering to make a pretender toy a reality, but I notice, no 3P (to my knowledge) have even attempted it, except for FT take on Dinoking, and those shells were basically just bigger versions of the originals with almost no articulation. When they did the Monstructor recolor, they didn't even make monster shells to go with them.

One thing is sure is that Mega Pretenders like Thunderwing and Vroom can be done for sure.
Thunderwing could be a commander class with his main body that is not only transformable, but also fully articulated. As for the inner bot, it could be a deluxe.

Normal pretenders couldn't really be pretenders but they could have the bot mode resembling the outer shell as close as possible while having the relevant altmode. They almost succeeded with ROTF Bludgeon after all.
