I feel your pain. I once had a Sunstreaker in my grasp up till the last minute. Then some arsehole bids £50 for him.
There's no need, especially when the current bid is a tenner.
Ebay sucks. I only ever use buy it now.

If £50 was the winning bid the bid before it must have been over £49 that's how eBay works.

I may be simplifying things some, but the end message is the same. I hate ebay.

The problem I always had on E-bay was that I'd bid on 3 or 4 of the same item hoping I'd win one and ended up winning 2 or 3. Problem being I'd only really be able to afford 1 and would have to scramble for cash.
Also I feel into the trap of bidding on "little" things while I was waiting for the auction I was really wanted to end. Before you know it you've spent more on things you don't care about than you have on what you really wanted in the first place.
Of course that's just me, I have a money spending problem/addiction.

I just gave up on ebay. Could never find what I wanted, in the condition I wanted, with all the bits still present, for the price I was willing to pay, so I gave up. Grom time to time I'll bid for specific things (complete Skorponok is high on the list, and I'll probably preorder MP Megs cuase he seems cheaper on eBay (as was Starscream).

Really
I love Ebay, sure i get outbid but where else can i find enough TF's,Robotech and Gundam stuff to knock me flat, and if the price gets too much, they'll always be a cheaper one

I love eBay! Although, I'm a buyer and a seller, so maybe that's why.

Since its another ebay gripe thread and I recently had my own experience, I'll play along.
Someone had a GI Joe Dragonhawk with a penny bid no reserve. Cool looking fighter great price, sure I'll bite. I wait till the last minutes and drop my 3 dollar bid since its been holding steady at a penny. a few seconds later my bid's outmatch by 25 cents. No big deal, I was only after it if I got it. Thing is, I hadn't even logged off ebay before my inbox has a notice of a "Second chance offer". I don't mind being outbid by another sniper, but when that snipers just boosting the price of his own product...

No dude, that's most likely a scam! THe latest e-bay scam is second chance offers that are fake. My friend sold a quad on e-bay, so I bid on it as a joke (I knew what his reverve was, so I didn't go above reseverve), but some one bid until they met reserve and won. I then got a second chance offer and called my friend and asked if he was kidding, but it wasn't him. So when I followed the link, I found out it was a scam.

i believe thats why if you go above a certain price then it stops giving the names of the bidders.

the easiest way to avoid that scam is to reply to the second chance offer only from your ebay account. that's interesting though. i've never heard of this kind of scam before.

Simple way to know if the email you got is fake or not is when you get an email from ebay like a second chance offer, is just to go to ebau and click on My Ebay and check your ebay messages.. If its a real email from ebay that you got in your email it will also be listed in your ebay messages..
I was told this by ebay after i reported some emails that i have gotten ...
There most common fake emails are one that look like people asking questions about an item .. i got like 20 of these in just a month, funny thing was , i wasn't selling anything lol ..
And then you get the second chance offers and also emails saying there are problems with your ebay account and you need to update your info lol lol big red flags there...
But always check your My Ebay for your emails...
And about being outbid lol , sniper bidding sucks buts its about the only thing that gives you a chance to maybe win what you want.. I never bid on anything anymore until maybe about the last minute and half of the auction..If you bid on it with 5 days left your most likely gonna loose it ...

I have had great luck with eBay, I used to use it only for YGO cards, but I started getting Transformers, for G1 I make not complete exceptions, so... yeah. I got Metroplex, who I adore, Kup & Blurr who are some of my faves and Thundercracker, who I love the paintjob, I just wish I could find a TM2 Cheetor, Optimal Optimus, TigerHawk, TM2 Megs, Black Arachnia & Tigertron, to complete my BW Cast.

I know i bid in the last minute so I am only capable of bidding what I am willing to pay, which isn't much really. Otherwise I avoid ebay like a plague... it's too easy to spend on it. Far tooo easy.

Yeah... I left out the detail that it was in my ebay mail, I still feel the second chance was legit [though morally questionable]. Either way, I let it be as I felt burned.
Then again, I've become a little cynical of sellers after having seen my bid for a Binaltech KO get run up to my limit only to have this "third party" retract their higher bid.
