Real quick first thoughts on TRU Rodimus Prime

He arrived today, ordered yesterday, and I just cut the tape on the box. This is the most collector-friendly packaging I've seen, worlds better than MP Grimlock. Rodimus slides out, and while he's tied into the tray, it looks like everything will go back in without a hassle.

My first thoughts are: nice going advertising for weeks that they'll be available on the site June 21st and having a whole 14 of the fuggin' things in stock that sold out before half the damn country was even out of bed. But give me a few more days to stew and I'm sure I can come up with more. ;)

disappointed its a movie/s3 character, thats when everything went to sht (for me anyway)
so many other s1 or s2 characters should have been made first (again imo)
glad some can enjoy if they like it, my wallet needed a breather.
having said all that the repaint looks smexy :BANG_HEAD:

I'm enjoy it so far. It ranks 4th, with Megatron below, but all the MPs are some of my favorite toys across any line.

Did they fix the QC issues?

I never bought the Japanese release, so no answer on that. Transformer is finicky to line all the parts up correctly. Think that stayed the same.

The local Ross here in Carlisle, PA has the Reveal the Shield voyagers, and the Battle Hooks Prime. The TJ Maxx next door has Starscream and Prime Leaders.

I got mine yesterday. He looks great. I did not put the arm stickers on him because I like the animation look better. I also like the choice of colors they used. He displays nicely with the other MP's.
I hate the leg transformation on him though. It took forever to get his legs bent and lined up just right. Annoying. After transforming him once,he will be staying in bot mode forever.
The he come with a lot of stuff! Offshoot is a cool idea, but because of the peg that fits into Rodimus' hand, Offshoot is always pointing up. The two pistols won't stay together long enough to form the rifle. They just fall apart. The inclusion of two matrixes (sp?) Was nice though. I kept the saw blade and the welder in the package.
Overall I am glad I picked him up. He looks great next to Prime on my MP shelf. I wish the accessories work a little better and the transforation was smoother. However, he is going to sit on the shelf as a display only, so those flaws are easily overlooked.

Opened mine last night and everything was great except for the paint on the wing. It looks like it was partially closed when they painted it so it didnt get an even coat. Beyond that my stupid dogs ate the sticker sheet but I probably wouldnt have used them anyways.

I watched a video review (it was posted yesterday or the day before on the news feed) and they fixed the hinge on the leg panels, which is a much nicer fix than what on my first run TakaraTomy Rodimus. (Which I still haven't had a problem with...)

The backpack still unpegs. The reviewer had to fix it at least once, but I think it was twice.

They did fix the visor so it stays up, in fact, he had a hell of a time deploying it.

The backpack tabs that fasten to the legs in Hot Rod's car mode are still thin and flimsy. So, it's a mixed bag on those fixes.

I wish the tools could stay attached, and I'll be keeping him in bot mode for display. Rubbed a little paint off the diecast hinge, but I'll pretend its battle damage.

Anyone else having problem fitting his arms into place while in alt mode? I had remove his hands to get the arms to fit so I could peg the pipes into place.

You have to angle the ankle bar (where the foot connects to the leg) just right. Bow it inwards toward the middle of the car, to make clearance for the arms.

Just a millimeter off will throw it out of whack.

If you look closely, the feet have a nesting place. Get them lined up with it perfectly, then use a fingertip and push inward on that ankle bar. It'll make one click and it'll be in the right position.

Angle the hands and fingers as shown in the instructions and the arms should close up just fine.

Thanx will try that.

It comes with stickers? Cool, I had no idea! Anyone care to snap a pic? It would be great if they had some cartoon details in there, but I'll probably have to wait for Reprolabels to do that.

Lets see...

The backpack pegs into place and stays much better than the first Takara one. He can hold both weapons well although I can't get him to hold onto Offshoot solidly. One of leg panels keep popping off during transformation. All in all pretty good!

Big negative...without the trailer there is nowhere to store the hand accessories. Still a solid figure and worthy of the Masterpiece name.
