G1 Optimus Prime MISB with R or TM after Transformers Logo?

Hey All,

I am in the process of selling my G1 Optimus Prime MISB. We have almost settled on a price but at the last second the guy wants to know if the TRANSFORMERS logo on the flap has an R or a TM next to it.

Does anybody know why he would be asking this?

Does it effect value?

Any help would be great.

Is this an 80's or the Encore? Long stacks and USA version I presume?

I'f I'm not mistaken the TM means its an original G1, where as KO's and subsequent releases even official ones have an R.

Also the placement of the R is an indicator on whether or not its as KO.

I would guess a TM version would be more valuable than an R but no way to know for sure. Only deeply OCD afflicted buyers would note this.

If it's the 80s TF, the TM vs R thingy is only a big deal to:
1. 1st release collectors will want TM (1984 1st release of TF or wave 1). Wave 2 TF has R this included the re-release TF Series 1 during 1985. Majority of collectors don't care R or TM.
2. It's really boil down to: TM = Pre-Rub and R=Rubsign. Me, I love the R because of the rubsign, others hate it.

In term of value wise, I don't see much difference between TM/R especially since it's Prime and its MISB. The demand is usually high.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the replies and that clears it up.

Guy is willing to go $750. This prime is sealed and has no flap crease whatsoever. The only flaw is one soft corner on the mural side, not the presentable side.

Do you think this is a good deal?

In my heart of hearts, i think it is an $1,000 figure.

Thoughts?

I am getting rid of it to restore a muscle car.

just some minutes ago, AFA 90 (90B, 90W, 90F) G1 Hot Rod with perfect score sold only for 898 for the normal auction! Too bad, I'm out of work, otherwise I would've bid.

With the above in mind and with so many G1 Prime had been reissued (another 1 is coming by the way), I think your 750 on Prime is a good deal. And if this outside of Ebay where you don't have to pay Ebay and Paypal Fee, that's even better. If you need the money to repair the car in a hurry, I would've taken that offer. If not, then AFA it, maybe you could get it for 2K.
