So I was looking in the eBay thread and saw someone say they got a classic OP for $40 and thinking this was ridiculous I checked eBay and saw the UM/Shywarp set selling for $170+.

Was anyone a genius 6 years ago and bought like 10 of these?

It sells for so much for two reasons.
1. Fansproject City Commander add on kit
2. Having Skywarp means you can finish the entire collection of seekers.
I never bought it, I did'nt even know what a third party group was.
Also, never completed the classics seekers.
Been kicking myself ever since...

Yea I'm really tempted to sell my loose figures.

This third party stuff seems like big business.

Yep. I bought about a dozen on clearance for about $15 a few years ago. I have since sold them all.

Wow, I bought mine off a guy using Craigslist. Bought

UM/Skywarp, Ramjet, Cliffjumper, and Grimlock for 120 all MIB about 4 yrs ago. I'd probably have paid 3 times that now adays for those same ones. Even Ramjet would have been smart to get and then sell now to complete the coneheads.

And I'd say $40 for Classics "voyager" OP isn't bad really. Great figure in my opinion.

They were exclusive to the (now defunct) Woolworths chain here in the UK. My Mother worked for them at the time and picked me one up using her staff discount, came out at £10!

Best bit was she refused to accept any money and said it was her treat :-)

However, guess who was too stupid ti buy the City Commander set...

I didn't buy it, and hated myself for it until I found an MISB set on Craigslist for $25.

ahhhh, Craigslist, love that site for these. I up my odds of finding something cool by searching the places I have good friends or family too, then send them the cash. I got a MIB Universe Superion for $15 which was nice.

Gundam, has it been 6 years already? I remember I had a choice between picking up 2 of Magnus/SW or Jetfire/Grimlock and I already had Grimlock. So it was a quick choice but I knew this was another crown jewel. Even though the only real bother was the colored tip on SW cone but other than that he's great!

Who knew CHUG TFs would have come this far without the re-release of the two as a set or individualy...'nuff said! :VEHI:

I bought 2 of these packs from Woolies when I saw them. That City Commander is a good looking figure and hasnt been off display since I got it. I keep hoping that one day I will see them again in some obscure shop but so for nothing.

I miss Woolworths, I got Energon Omega Supreme for a daft £16.99 once. It was the only one left on sale for £19.99 but as it had a slight tear ( and I do mean slight ) on one side of the box they knocked £3 off.

Sad part is I watched several of them shelf warm for months on clearance and figured I would just get one later. Big Mistake. I needed them to complete my classics and just recently bought a MISB set from ebay for about $150. Yeah, that hurt.

I wasn't a collector at the time and never bought it, though I did pick up classics Starscream back then and he was the only one I had for years until I saw Thrust and started collecting, luckily I got Skywarp off a fellow board member in trade a month or so ago, now all i need is ramjet!

I got into collecting partway through the Universe lineup, so I had completely missed the Classics. I had quickly reached the decision to go back and pick up the Classics on the aftermarket. Today, that'd be a wallet killer. Two years ago, I got a MISB Magnus/Skywarp set off eBay for about $30 shipped.

Boo. Yeah. 8)

Not getting the two-pack is my biggest TF regret. EVER.

I had the choice between Classics Prime, and Classics UM / SW 2 pack. And considering a ) I liked the Classics Seeker mold, and 2 ) I considered Cybertron Prime (aka Galaxy Force's American cousin, not Cybertron mode Prime) to be the "Optimus Prime" for my collection at the time, the choice was clear.

And I do not regret it one bit. :D

... Though I still need to make a "G1 Prime" trailer for my Cybertron Prime...
