Disappointments...

So I got DOTM voyager Ironhide today, and I was liking him...until I spent two hours trying to lock his chest into place. I swear, I only accomplished it three times, and each of those times, it stayed for ten seconds, at the most. And I'm not sore about the shoulder joints, anything else - I bought this one because I hated the chest on the old voyager, and this one has a different but equally frustrating problem. Ugh...

Anybody have some advice on how to get to lock? Or any other disappointing stories like this one?

There are people who suffer from 1974 Camaro Bumblebee's car hood having a bad spring, causing the hood to fold down by just trying to carefully put him down in car mode.

It's been known to fold down without triggering the automorph button.

And there are the few where the automorp is completely busted and can no longer stay put in car mode constantly folds down.
-----------------------------------

Luckily i dont suffer from that.... but the entire gear assembly on the 2008 Concept Camaro hood has been know to become stuck on me, making Bumblebee impossible to transform.

And the waist is almost so loose it's close enough to drive me mad.

the DOTM series isn't the greatest Quality control wise.

From what I understand.....the DOTM line is "supposed" to be more kid friendly at transforming them, but I'm seeing it came at the price of more QC. I had to take back my sideswipe cause it was terrible at staying together, but I returned it and gave another a try. It is much better.

I'm not going to say everyones is bad or every tf your going to get is that way, but it seems there are more issues in this area with DOTM then I remember w/ ROTF, HFTD, and the 07 toys.

Picked up DOTM Skids. Solid Vehicle form. Everything pops together perfectly in both modes. Hes a perfect figure! Beautifully painted, and the Dull grey doesn't do much harm to him.
His big arm falls off the elbow ball joint at the slightest touch though. Stress marks CAME WITH THE TOY! :BOOM:
Skids is so cool.
My skids is not.

Would somebody please remind me what QC is? I forgot (as far as internet slang goes) :-(

Yeah, it's not all that easy. I had troubles with that chest too, but it didn't really take me 2 hours. More like 10 long minutes...

Otherwise, you have to admit, this Ironhide's quite good.

Quality Control.

The G1 toys may be clunky, they may not have the greatest (or any, in some cases) articulation, but damn if the aren't well built. These new toys fall apart in the freakin' boxes. :BOOM:

I got HA Leadfoot a little while ago and I'm pretty Disappointed. After a very frustrating, tedious, and needlessly complicated transformation, I end up with a Robot that's hollow, back/top heavy, and lacking in any meaningful articulation. I know he's supposed to be a fat guy, but he arms are so horribly articulated that he can't even swing his arms past his belly because of his car doors. Not to mention that the plastic on this guy feels like it's relatively low quality. With such an annoying transformation, I'm worried I'm going to snap pieces in half!

He looks good on the shelf just standing there. But I'll never get a dynamic pose out of him, and he's just an eye sore if you look at him from any angle other than the front.

Not entirely true. G1 had toys made with GPS type plastic. G2 as well. No matter how well made they are or the design, if the plastic quality is crap, none of the rest matters.

A month or so ago, I bought RTS Chopsaw. I loved the mold, and decide that I had to buy 2010 Brimstone. I had looked him up on ebay and gone to countless different stores looking for him, but I had no luck. Then the other day, I was at walgreens picking up some milk, and there he was, sitting on the shelf. I immediately picked him up and took him home. (After paying, of course.)

I got home and opened him up- and his right arm immediately broke off. The plastic connecting his shoulder joint and his arm was broken, and the arm just fell into my hand. I was NOT happy. And then I found out that moving his LEFT arm at all caused the joint to pop out.

:BOOM:

WHAT THE HECK, BRIMSTONE.

Only DOTM mold I have is Shockwave, and he's fine, I have moon prime w/comettor and space case but those are redecos from previous lines, I believe engineering somewhat plays into the number of qc issues with figs, and most of DOTM just doesn't look very well engineered. :-(

Leader Ironhide. Found it, couldn't believe it. The thing looked gret in package. Got it home, opened it and realized what I'd really gotten. It's just a big hunk of plastic that looks good just standing there but awful to play with or pose. I can't imagine kids playing with that thing. The head doesn't rotate, the arm panels hiding his cannons hang open loosely, and there's very little ingenuity in his transformation. I mean his trailer literally unfolds into his legs. Not to mention his overall lack of poseability is horrendous. I was SO disappointed as this was one of the only DOTM I saw on the net and immediately wanted for my collection.

Agreed to a point. I still like him, and he's growing on me. I still prefer Roasbuster.

My voyager Ratchet's arm likes to fall off frequently.

I bought DOTM Voyager sized Ironhide months ago. I transformed it a few times & studied it's design. I finally decided to return it & get my money back.

The main reason I didn't like the toy was the lack of decent poseability in the robot arms.

I'm all about have decent poseable TF toys these days & if the toy doesn't have decent poseabilty then it get kicked out of my TF toy collection.
