Ultimate Optimus Prime-Related Predicament

So I got $80 in b-day money and, without thinking, blew it all on Ultimate Optimus Prime from the DOTM line. It's still in its box, and I still have the receipt. Mixed public opinion is making it hard to decide, but I'd like to hear what you guys think: Should I keep it or return it?

Looks like a crap figure to me, but it's available for $65 at Walmart, so if you're gonna keep it, at least get them to price match or return it and buy it from Wally. I'd just return it altogether, though.

Personally I would keep it. I have one and despite it not being movie accurate at all, it still looks great on the shelf. Keep it especially if you like Optimus Primes. However, if you can find it cheaper like right here on
Walmart.com with free site to store shipping then do it. I am not sure if they are $65.00 in store or not.

I saw it at one and it was $65 there...whether it differs from store to store, I dunno, but I kinda doubt it.
PS: I'm a big fan of Prime figs and I still think it sucks...

It depends: do you want a figure that takes up a lot of space and has no leg articulation?
If I was given one as a gift I suppose I'd keep it so as not to offend but there are better things to spend the money on if you wait.

$65.00 in store at Wal-Mart. Not worth it, I say. I took mine back. It kept falling apart and had loose joints on the cab, and was just overall meh. A few good things, but that's about it.

As stupid as it is, i foresee it being worth alot in the future. After all, its a huge prime + trailer. The last time we got that was in armada and was based off an anime. At least ultimate prime is based on the movie-verse : \

I would return it and buy it at Walmart if you can. I think it's worth $80 but if you can get it for $15 cheaper by all means.
It's definitely worth it in my opinion but that's just me.
If you're still not sure I'd exchange it for the $60 Kreo Prime because it is OUTSTANDING. Best Prime we've had in a while. The box art doesn't do it justice. Once you get it built, WOW. I saw a display of it set up in both vehicle mode and robot mode in Target and I must say I've had second thoughts about purchasing Ultimate Optimus this paycheck in favor of Kreo Optimus.
I do agree though that Ultimate Optimus will probably be worth a pretty penny in the future.

I don't know how god of a figure it is, but I'm not a huge fan of it. However, if you decide you do want the figure, then by all means return it and get it at Walmart for $65.

I think it's great. I really didnt care for robot mode (without the mech suit) at first but it's really grown on me. I only got it for the trailer but as of now that's the part that I'm least interested in.

I don't believe in buying from Wal-Mart. Their treatment of workers is just too poor.

Get a price difference refund. I like it, quite big and impressive on the shelf. I have it out of the box and it dwarfs all my other figures.

I like it. It is ridiculously big even stands over the Leader class, but I still enjoy it.
If your not missing the cash right now....I'd say hang onto it and see if something better comes along later. I'd assume a 3rd party item comes along later. I think you might see a few go on clearance later though eventually for probably $50 or so.
I remember Devy being like $90 bucks, but went down to the $60's over time, however this guy isn't being seen in as large of quantities as he was. I remember seeing like 15 devys in the stores and this guy only 2 or 3 at most.

No one is forcing anyone to work at Wal*Mart.

I'm going to be trading mine plus two small primes for a MP Starscream. I like this OP but am digging the Scream way more.

If you're getting it for display purposes, by all means. It looks very imposing, especially next to some other figures. But it's not very playable. I had it in both modes for a while, and I like the robot mode better. If the forearms weren't so dumb, the smaller robot mode would be perfect. As it is, it looks really good standing on the desk. I don't have the Mechtech weapon attached, I think that's kinda stupid. It does fold over his head and hang down the back, so I might put it on there like that.

I'll give my opinion without reading the thread.
First I bought it at a whopping 135$US, shipped, off Ebay at the end of June. I'm Canadian and it was supposed to come out here only in December at 100$CAN. Turn out it came out in the beginning of August and it was at 70$CAN+TAX for a week at may local TrU. Jeez... At least, it's back at 100$ and we can't find it at Wallmart. Sure, I could have waited for boxing day or something. But I'm a Optimus Prime fan and I couldn't pass it up. And I wanted it NOW.
Anyway, beside having paid maybe 50$ too much for it, let's talk about the figure itself. I LOVE IT! Yes, it have it's flaws. Like the Popeye forearms for the simple robot mode and the lack of posability for the Ultimate mode. But I don't care. This thing is very rad looking! The whole thing is fun and easy to transform. He's imposing. And I just LOVE a Optimus Prime combining with his trailer to form a super mode.
You have it, OPEN IT UP. Then, keep his main cannon up like picture related and add some Mechtech weapons to fill up his hands.

My only regret is that his trailer is not a triple-changer. I would have liked an artillery base mode of some sort like with God Grinrai. But it did not stop me for creating that mode in a ackward manner:

While I'm at it, see it with God Ginrai in vehicle mode:

God Ginrai and Ultimate Optimus Prime, showhing off: (by the way, if you don't mind bricks, get God-Ginrai. This toy is too awesome and one of my favorite TF ever!)

And he sit so well at the top of my
Optimus Prime collection!

I think the only opinion that really matters here is yours. And since you say you haven't taken it out of the package yet, I'd say you're putting yourself at a loss.
I say, take it out, play around with it for a few days and see if YOU like it before making any decisions. As long as you're careful with the packaging you shouldn't have any problems returning it, should you choose to (I've never had any problems returning an opened fig, as long as all the pieces were there and I had the receipt). It might end up being that one fig that everyone hates but hey, for some reason you really dig it. If that's the case, you'll be glad you gave yourself the chance.
If not, well, you'll get your money back so it won't matter anyway.

I don't own ultimate Prime, nor do I plan to. It doesn't seem like a bad figure to me, it's just that 80$ can get me better stuff.
