i just bought a spike witwicky headmaster and was curious to see if it's a KO or not. it's not from the little KO fort maximus..es,maximi(?) that's prevalent here in the philippines. it bought it a thrift store and i can't find any markings of copyrights to the figure and based on the pics at this site, there probably aren't any markings. as best as i could, i can't find the cerebros and fort max figures to confirm or deny the authenticity of the figure. the plastic doesn't look cheap so what are the factors that would determine if it's the real deal?

Well, this is SpikeWitwicky:

I'd say it's the real deal, but then again, I'm not entirely sure, considering that I do not own the figure and have no idea where the TMs should be -.-

I own one.
1. There are no trademarks on the head part so not an accurate indicator
2. There are reports that the htf Japanese exclusive Headmaster set has been replicated already........a bit of bad news.
3. Is it kind of worn out, good indicator that its an original(as in originally used from yesteryears)
4. Quality wise, the molding should be neat. The plastic quality must have a solid and not hollow feel to it. Thats the quality used previously on vintage tfs
5. As a whole, based on your pics, I'm leaning to 80% original, and you hit the jackpot 'cause in ebay, he costs like US $ 150+

I'm curious about the thrift store you picked it up in. Do they sell items like a flea market or garage sale? How much did you actually pay for it? Forget that last question. Only people who know what they have would ask a high price tag, even if they are ripping people off.
Was there any packaging? I'm guessing probably not if it's genuinity is in question.
Don't take this personally but I've come to be leery of buying transformer items from the Phillipines. Have had some transactions that were shakey on being legitimately vintage.

There is a KO set of all the rare Japanese Headmasters that includes a Spike. The biggest difference though is that the KO makers left off the trademark information, so no one could pass it off as a fake. I'm not sure where the trademark is on the real Spike, but if you can find that out, you can tell if the one you have is real or not. As far as I know, there's only one fake Spike, and it doesn't have the trademark.

Didn't you guys read my previous post?
The 1st and gen headmasters "head"parts don't come with any trademarks. To use the Japanese term, the "Transtectors" are the ones with the TM.
Heck, even Cerebros/Fortress didn't come with the TM marking, only the big @ss "City"/Starship Maximus came with the trademark.

let's see i've bought it for P15 and $1=P42.10 last i checked so somewhere about $.45?
i've asked the place if they have any other robots and they showed a lot of gashapon gundams, star wars droids and a 1995 viper 2 model (virtual on) and that was it. even a damaged fort max would've answered some questions but from what i can gather, they just buy lots of crates from auctions without having them opened so it's just plain luck (or is it the force?) if you get something awesome among the muck
