Old TF of mine, Finaly ID'd

Iv'e had this guy for YEARS, and Didn't even think he was an actual TF, I thought he was a knockoff, and since he is pretty posable, I didn't think he would be that old. He's an old Ghetto looking Golden Pickup truck. I was going through tfuinfo.com and found out who he was. G2 Electro.
I Don't really care for him, but since he's so old, and his stickers and sword are still in practically brand new condition, I think I'll keep him! I would like to see this guy re-visited someday with some classics love though. maybe from the Seargent kup mold? Just an Idea. Still, No Idea as to what he's worth in good condition, but I don't think Id'e sell him. Well, Just wanted to share!

Cherish him, big time! G2 Electro is a big time sufferer from Gold Plastic Syndrome, so he'll break if you even breathe on it.

thats pretty cool, especially since he sounds like hes in good condition. i dont know if you know, but he is rather prone to the dreaded Gold Plastic Syndrome. hes not very sought after, but the fact you have one that isnt crumbled to bits is impressive!

He does feel Fragile. Iv'e had him in a box in storage for like, 6-7 years or so. long time, no see. I Totally forgot about him untill recently, while I was unpackng. Found a few others I'm yet to ID.

you've both mentioned Gold Plastic Syndrome...I'm starting to get scared here, how common is that exactly? Is gold plastic just brittle? Iv'e transformed him a few times now, and though he feels fragile, he hasn't broken or formed any stress marks. I think I'll just shelf him. He's not that fun anyway.

TFWiki on Gold Plastic Syndrome. It's especially common with toys of the later G1 into G2 era, but sufferers are found well into RiD!

Just ignore the top image

Oh my god the humanity!!!! Seriously that's going to traumatize BeastProwl I'm sure.

In any case, if he's still in o.k shape, I'd say you are very lucky.

If they are what I think they are, look for "Laser Rods" under the Sub-Group category ;)

This thread makes me glad I wasn't interested in Transformers during G2.

With GPS aside. He's a pretty sweet figure. He's the last piece of my LaserRod line collection to acquire.

To a fella like myself he is a treasure. I'd even go as far as to say that i'm a bit envious. He's a hard figure to get a hold of.

Is he complete and does the light feature still work?

Wow that's ridiculous.

Was there really a TF named Randy?

The only G2 TFs I own are the brick green G2 Megatron (just because in the comics he's a f**king awesome character), the smaller purple version of him with the air pump and hose (missing the hose) and complete G2 Laser Rod Optimus Prime, which I have been thinking about getting rid of. I like the mold, but the colors are a bit trippy.

Yes there was, a Japanese repaint of Beast Wars Razorbeast. They're not fussy with names.

Man, I loved the LaserRods back in the day. After they showed up in #7 of the G2 comic, I had to get a couple. I had Jolt and Sizzle. I can still remember the commercial, too:

"Electro, Volt, Sizzle, Jolt... fightin' with lightnin' LASERRODS!"

For TFs, GPS is like the real world equivalent of cosmic rust, its pretty terminal!

I loved the Laser Rod gimmick. I had Sizzle and my brother had Volt. It wasn't until recently that I realized they had more articulation--I guess that didn't matter to me as a kid, lol.

I was literally shocked at how easily he broke the toy in that video.

Then I was equally disappointed to notice that the weapon/hood decoration thing on the Classic Sunstreaker mold is partly made of metallic plastic :(
