What version of the to - excluding the Masterpiece - do you feel is the quintessential representation of Megatron?

Or do you feel there has YET to be one?

for me at least masterpiece megatron is the definitive megatron, followed closely by classics megatron

movieverse is to un balanced and unsymmetrical
g2-all the way through beast wars and animated tried to emulate his fusion cannon with varying degrees of success

and classics came damn close with the exception of those wings

i look at it this way any of the other versions of megatron recolored could be considered an homage to someone else but no matter what color or paint layout you give mp-5 or the classics mold they are still easily recognized as megs

This subject looks like little more than asking which Megatron we like best. Persoanlly my top 2 are Classics/Henkei/United Megatron, and Cybertron/Galaxy Force Master Megatron. Classics because I feel he embodies a perfect mix of the G1 style and a great Emperor of Destruction. Master Megs because I feel he embodies a great Decepticon Emperor of Destruction.

If that wasn't clear enough I feel a Megatron should be both menacing and regal, and with the wings on the classics mold I feel it works very well, because they look like they could be devil wings or a cape or both!

MP and G1 version hands down. You can use the G1 version as a weapon and the MP as the warrior mode.

gotta agree with alternator on this one. the classics megatron mold is the best version of the decpticon leader outside of masterpiece. and out of the 3 official paintjobs that mold has recived, id say United is the best one. while it lacks the flash and detailing of Henkei, i think that works in United's favor. plus i think the even silver looks better than light grey with a chome chestplate

I have to go against the flow here, but in my mind the figure that best represents Megatron in all his evil-scheming-power-hungry badassness is Animated Leader Class Megatron.



He just does pretty much everything right.
Color Scheme, robot Mode, Fusion Cannon, head,. He dos it better than Classics Megs in that he can correctly aim his fusion canon.

I think a classics-fied version of this Megatron in the same vein as Lugnut, would be fanstastic. Though I'd change the alt mode from an Osprey to a plane / ship that actually looks like something (*cough* not like Movie 1 Megs *cough*).

ROTF leader. Bulky with a gigantic arm of doom and an evil face, plus a little dinky arm that makes him look like something out of a lab experiment gone horribly wrong. Not to mention a gigantic tank mode that can CRUSH ANYTHING and an epic voice effect. This Megatron is pure, deformed evil.

G1 Megs.

I don't feel that one exists yet.

United Megatron, Animated Leader Megatron and Cybertron Galvatron are my favorites.

G1 for nostalgia, MP for comic/animated series accuracy

In terms of G1 accuracy then the legends class one captures the look best of all so far, followed by Animated Leader Megs.

I don't think any of them really capture him yet but who knows, maybe MP-11 will do it...

Revoltech is the most solid megatron out there. No, he doesn't transform, but, since I have reolvtech starscream, which came with a gun mode megatron, that'll do it. I mean, hasbro is going to pioneer mass shifting in their toys. All the other megatrons have never had a robot mode that's really wowed me.
I'd love to see an actual transformer that looked as good as revoltech megatron. As long as he turned into something decent, not a cosmic can opener.

If they did a grey/silver G2 Megatron, that would be perfect!

Again i dont think there is that perfect one made yet other than mentioned revlotech.

Im not saying this is the best but i realy like Cybertronian Megatron the only down side is that he should have been a voyager.

i agree with some of you saying they havent made THE perfect megatron yet. they need to make one BIG, bad ass leader class meg(movie megs looks to crappy).

I was going to say MP Megatron, but you said except for that one.

I love the Animated Leader figure. If he had a more Classic-like head, I think that would be the winner. But he doesn't, so he isn't.

Got to go with the consensus that thus far they HAVEN'T managed to make THE Megatron. Henkei was ok but the wings just annoy me.

Aside from that I do have two faves - the Beast Wars T-Rex (who I know isn't Megs but even so....) and the G2 Hero Tank. Calling him a hero was dumb, but the actual toy was a whole bunch of fun, very poseable and It's the one I've messed around with consistantly since it was released.

I have agree with other and say I don't think there is one. I think there's bits and pieces out there that fit, like the sleek but powerful jet of Energon, the sense of presence G2 and Classics and Animated, finally the colors of the original. I think that Megatron should be chromed and not just silver.

For me it'd have to be Transmetals 2/Dragon Megatron from Beast Wars. LOVE that design, everything about it. It's really an outward expression of Megatron's own darkened spark (especially after he fuses with G1 Megs).

As the final season of Beast Wars came to a close this one act ramped everything up pushing Megatron's power and insanity past anything it had been before. As a toy and a character this to me is the ultimate Megatron.

I still don't think G1 Megs has been done justice, nor has movie Megs at that.

As for Megatron in toy form I think the WfC figure is the best. I think his alt mode should be something that is unique and purely destructive. Nothing defines that better than what is basically a hovering fusion cannon. On top of that it's a solid figure with none of the usual issues that plague Megatron. Excess kibble, lack of articulation, lazy transformations, and "what the hell is it?" alt modes.

Pretty much. They're all neat, but I guess more effort always goes into prime. I picked the non-transforming reolvtech, but even then, I forgot to mention, he's too small compared to other toys, so he's fine with other his size, but deluxes are bigger than him.

I hope they keep making megatrons in a more traditional way. It seems TF prime megatron won't be a flavor I'll be enjoying too much.

I think I'd really like to see a jet megatron. Some kind of russian or british jet, and have the robot mode look like the megatron we know and love. Maybe megatron is doomed to be a bit awkward, and his awkwardness is why he's evil.
