What do you think the toys for the new animated series will look like

According to the articale on the front page they say and I qoute " Hasbro and cartoon network will partner on the 2-D animated series, which will offer a new twist on the original series." So I wonder if this means that they will destroy the g1 toys that we hold so dear or will it be a whole new cast of character except for optimus prime and megatron. I would love to hear what you guys think because my mind has shutdown due to the awful image that is forever burned in into my brain.

Like lumps of plastic shite.

I doubt the toys are gonna look anything like the animation. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to transform at all!

So, they could look like Classics figures for all we know at this stage.

But damn! That animation cell is 1000% ugly!

Maybe they won't transform and everyone's here head will explode!

They will be more complex then the cartoon version, but will still look like rubish.
Movie Megatron toys look way better than this.
I whon't be able to sleep tonight, cos Shitimus Prime will eat me!

The picture looks a bit alright, though it looks like Mr. Prime is kind of top-heavy the way they drew him. Plus he has that wasp-thin waist that they are so fond of giving 'heros.' I just hope the story doesn't suck.

Well, after seeing that picture of Prime, I finally realised what a work of art the Bayformers are!

It's action masters, the animation, but crappier. Seriously, what's with all the design changes. I know it took us all some time to finally accept the weird movie designs but this is even worse! :-x

I have a feeling the toy line for the animated series is going to be fantastic. I have a good feeling we are going to see more G1 related characters in G1 colors in an almost classics like toy line.

I don't see how they'd make them radically different from the animation models, so therefore, they will look like steaming piles of rat feces.

I hope you're right. My gut feeling is that the line will look more like Armada, which means I'll pass on pretty much the whole line.

Usually Hasbro's marketing moves make some kind of sense to me, even if I don't personally approve. Following hyper-realistic potential summer blockbuster with super-dumbed down non-transforming kids cartoon seems counterintuitive. Designs notwithstanding, if the TF don't transform on screen and the toyline is just as simplistic, I think it could derail any popular Transformers momentum. Unless there's another subline under wraps, I don't see this being the wisest move.

Actually this will likely appeal to the younger fans coming down off the excitement of the movie. The cartoons rarely live up to the potential of the movie but it will be enough to hold them over until the sequel.

The older fans, (IE: us) will likely despise the show, however the toys have some potential. They have to look at least a bit more realistic and natural than the show. So the toys might be the saving grace of the cartoon. On the other hand the movies momentum should at least spawn a dozen other sublines and even if the show toys are crap we should have plenty of other things to occupy us and our money. If worse comes to worse we will have another long break to build up our finances before the movie sequel.

Agreed.
Hasbro is certain to spawn a few additional sub lines while this is going on. A Universe Remix or something, with figures form all 3 Unicron trilogy lines, movie and classics lines. Or Maybe somewhat of a sequel to the Classics just under another name. G1 Rebirth or something like that.

In any case, unless something really amazing comes out of the cartoon, i think I'll pass.

The Prime looks exactly like Star Convoy. Maybe the figures will be nice and we'll get a Classics style Star Convoy.

I agree, they should just make Robot Heroes from every series since G1 to Galaxy Force.

All robot heros is the transformers version of SD Gundam. Which I never liked to begin with. So I hope that is not what we will get.

Well they will look more like new days definitely, the thing is the cartoon looks really oldish, so we don't exactly know how they will be looking. But I thought for startes plain and simple just like Robot Heroes.

I freakin hate the Robot Heroes. I gthink I'm the only one.

Robot Heroes = Wheelie = cute = ...

However, based on the scans we have, it looks like the new series is going to look pretty funky. It's too bad.

Well, good for my wallet.

If the toys match the picture stylings, I expect the overall workings to be somewhat simplistic.

I think we'll see more basic transformations, intuitive designs, and some very angled designs.

I think it will end up looking like Energon, but transforming like Armada.

A good example of what I expect to see for this new line will be Energon Ironhide.

clone

I think it is more likely that they will look like the Clone Wars figures from Star Wars Clone Wars the animated series, it worked well for that but for this it will suck.

I am sure the vehicle alt modes will sacrifice the alt mode for the "cool" looking robot mode, Optimus's cab will probably look exactly like his shoulders and be all angled and crazy looking.

So you are thinking of a "Playskool" aesthetic for the new series? Personally, I think we may get detailed toys like in Energon/Cybertron/Classics but the cartoon will be a toned down, simplistic version of these figures. Just like the G1 cartoon simplified the G1 figures. My worst case scenero is Hasbro comes out with Action Masters 2.0; each package comes with a show accurate robot mode and a seperate vehicle mode. No transforming whatsoever.
