Hello all,

I need some advice from Transformers collectors out there. I'm a casual toy enthusiast and I have been collecting Hasbro Generations line for the past 2 months (had about 12 of them). I also purchased a few Transformers United version (3 of them) and three of the Fansproject Insecticons (which is coming to me).

Now... I am very much ready to buy my very first Optimus Prime (Convoy). I like the old G1 style Optimus and has been doing some research on which is the definitive G1 Optimus Prime. Don't get me wrong, I like the new Peterbilt truck movie style Prime too, but call me traditional... I really want to get a G1 Prime to match my current collection. Please see this link:

My collection is make out of 95% Deluxe Class and would want to keep the consistency. However, I just can't decide which Optimus Prime I should buy to match my collection? I came to the conclusion of either MP-04 or MP-10 by Takara. Yes, I would like to have the trailer as well (excluding MP-01). This will be my very first Masterpiece collectible. Money is not an issue here, just need the best G1 Optimus to go with my current G1 homages.

Movie Prime's alt mode is not a Mack, it's a Peterbilt.

As for the MPs, go with MP-10 if money isn't an issue for you. Personally, I like the MP-01, but the MP-10 looks better in truck mode.

MP-04 is a bit big to go with deluxe figures. Don't know how they measure up to MP-10 but since he's smaller, he might look better with your deluxe figures. I would go with MP-10.

I'd go with Classics Optimus Prime with the FansProject G3 trailer. Technically not Masterpieces, but both are very good toys that go perfect with the Classics line.

I agree with Duque here.

But, if you are stuck on the MP's, go with 10. I absolutely love him.

Planning to get an MP-10 too. If not THS-02 (small but equally awesomesauce)

Choices, choices!! The ol' MP-4 is an awesome toy, but he's a giant.
MP-10 will look good with your Classics, although he's still a bit big if you ask me.
Hybrid Style Convoy would be perfect, but I'd say he's an inch or two too small! Perhaps worth getting anyway if you can find him cheap.

To summarise, if you're going for the best Prime, get MP-4. If you want one that will better fit with your other toys, get MP-10.

I say go with the deluxe classics prime. Yes you read right, the one with the annoying gimmick that makes it spin around. To me, the triangular-ness of the voyager's shoulder and doors on his forearms just don't seem G1-prime enough for me.

I like the whole look of the deluxe prime, and with some paint and removal of the gimmick, it really looks great. It's very G1-accurate in bot mode, even down to the full-length smokestacks on his shoulders (Hasbro thinks this is legit while not on G1-reissues).

Henkei Voyager Convoy, done. MP-10 looks great but he's way too big for Classics, by far.

Thank you everyone for helping out another fellow Transforemrs fan. I never own a Masterpiece before, which is why I am picking between these two. I have concluded that I will give MP-10 a try. I saw a few reviews on youtube and I think he is the most accurate and as close size to my classic as it can be. I don't mind Prime being 2"-3" taller then he is suppose to. Anything beyond that height, would really make him just a stand alone piece. Oh boy, it is such an amazing and excited feeling to finally own a my very first Masterpiece Transformers. I'm very thrill and can't wait to receive him tomorrow from toyarena.com
