Are Classics Dead?

I haven't had time to sort through all the info from the NYCC footage in detail, but I didn't see anything pertaining to the Classics style figures. Is the line dead? Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere. Not trying start a b**ch thread either; just want to know what's going on
Thanks!

Nope. It isn't. But the NYCC had very little of interest anyway. Takaratomy just announced a load, for instance.

We're getting the repainted Wreck-Gar with a new head sculpt and Black Shadow, a remold of Thunderwing, before the end of the year in the Generations line. After that, the SKU becomes Transformers Prime, and Generations will go on hiatus. Or so we think.
The fourth round of Classics toys hasn't been announced yet, but we'll more than likely get more after DOTM ends next year.

All that's known for sure is that there will be some Fall of Cybertron toys that will be included in the Generations line.

Oh boy, forgot about those. I hope we get some Dinobots out of this.

I think I'm correct in saying we ar still waiting on official announcements for the retools of Kup, Scourge, Perceptor (supposedly into Reflector) and Warpath. All of those were revealed via their instruction sheets.
I don't think I missed any out, so their should be more to come!

I hope Kup could be "Orion"

I'm sure Classics will continue, even if it's under the "Universe" name, the "Generations" name, or something else. Especially once Movie-verse is done.

There are still some figures names that have been tossed out there that we didn't get yet.
I am still hoping they will release the Frenzy/Rumble tank mold here in the States.

I will be happy with some more voyager figures. The line is mostly deluxe class and I think it's time we get some larger figures. Yes, we do have a fair number of ultras from Universe and various AEC repaints, but I'd like to see some more original designs go to the larger size class for the Classics stuff.
Didn't Botcon mention something about an announcement in December? It had something to do with Arcee and it wasn't the Prime figure either.

if they get their 4th movie then theyll likely go back into movie idea overdrive and give us more repaints. i take everything they say with a 20lb bag of salt.

They did hint at something along those lines in the Q&A, but it was unofficial so it could be pushed back, whatever it is... Unless they were talking about the G1 colored Arcee from Prime...which would be a huge letdown!

I´m so happy to read this! The Hasbro panel (of wich I only watched a video on Youtube) gave me the impression that the movie line would end this year with some Trilogy figures (or early next year, what ever) and that all lines would become TF: Prime... I pretty much thought Classics/Universe/Generations/Reveal the Shield was over... apparently I was completely wrong about everything, that makes me happy!
I usually don´t like repaints or bad remolds if I already have a version of the mold, but Generations proved it´s possible to create a good line with well-thought uses of the same basic toy.

(I'm not sure if i should make a new topic with this comment, if so sorry)
I was wondering about what characters are really left for them to make in the classics lines. They've covered a good deal of G1, almost all the ark characters. I started making a list of characters that they haven't dealt with or only did in legends class.
Please, feel free to add any I've missed. This is by no means a complete list of holes in the classics lines and touches on only G1.
Brawn (legends)
Gears
Huffer (PCC)
Trailbreaker (Trailcutter legends)
Cosmos (legends)
Beachcomber (Legends)
Skids
Hoist
Slag
Sludge
Snarl
Swoop
Whirl (Legends)
Omega Supreme
Insecticons
Constructicons
Blitzwing
Shockwave
Pipes
Wheelie(Legends)
Swerve
Tailgate
Broadside
Sandstorm (Legends)
Protectobots (except Blades)
stunt icons (except dragstrip)
Sky Linx
Predicons
Chromedome
Technobots (except Strafe)
Terrorcons
I'm sure there are some of these in the works and others they seem less than likely to ever make. I wonder how long before the characters in classics are all so obscure that only really knowledgeable collectors would be interested. The two new repaints coming out are fairly obscure, I guess it will be a good test of how far they can take it if they become shelf warmers or not.

The idea that only a few remolds are what we have to sustain us into next year is very disheartning. I know we are in Movie-hell and that's HasTak's cash-cow for now but I want some new Generations figures to keep me going, however far off they may be. Just the hope of rounding out the necessary G1 cast is all I need.
And for the record Trailbreaker/Hoist need a new mold that actually looks like them - Kup will NOT do.
Also: I don't care if this is bitching, A 4th Bay film is about as depressing as this hobby can get.

If you need further reassurance, there has been some form of Classics toy released each year since 2006. As the DOTM toyline dies down in 2012, Hasbro will put out something to fill the void and it won't just be the Prime toyline.
I'm dying to hear some news, I must admit. But we've just got to be patient. New Classics toys will come.

IMHO,No all sources point towards DOTM ending early. with both TF Prime toys & generations pumping out news molds in 2012 & beyond.
BTW,Classics has been dead in the water for a few years now in America.
Generations is what will continue making new molds in 2012.
