Buster Prime or Jetwing Prime?

Question is simple. In the next couple of weeks I will have some extra cash and I wanted to buy either Buster Prime or Jetwing Prime. They're both around the same price range online, and after reading and watching reviews, they're both awesome. I can't make up my mind, need some opinions from experts. I really don't care much for the wings and gatling guns, but I would like a DotM Prime leader version. That's why I would get the Jetwing Prime. On the other hand, I have RotF Leader Prime and Battle Hooks Prime already, and I think Buster Prime would complete the set. So I'm a bit torn. Oh what will I ever do with my extra $200? (No, I'm not giving it to you.

They're basically the same figure once you remove the wings/guns from Jetwing, but here's a breakdown of the differences as I understand them (and basically what you need to narrow it down to in deciding between the two):
- Buster has better/more paint apps
- Jetwing has the DoTM chest vs the RoTF one
That's pretty much it as I understand it, in fact, the Jetwing Prime even comes with Buster's guns (and they store inside the Jetwing backpack).
I personally prefer Jetwing, but I like the jetpack and guns, so if someone presented me the option of buying the DoTM leader Prime (minus the jetpack) or getting Buster Prime, I'd probably go for the Buster because of the better paint apps (I'm a stickler for those, even though I really do like the DoTM chest/torso better than the RoTF one).

While Buster Prime is awesome, I don't think he's that much better than the Hasbro ROTF Prime. As the previous poster said, the paint aps are sharper, he has a gun, and he has some chrome. when compared to the Hasbro version. That's really about it.
The Jetwing version has Buster's gun, the awesome jet pack, and a really spiffy paint scheme (better than Hasbro's) but not Chrome. But really, I don't see the loss of chrome as a big deal because the majority of it was on the truck's grill...which form the bases of Prime's feet! I'd be VERY paranoid about scratching up the chrome just from having my Prime stand up...
I personally held out on Buster Prime because of the chrome feet that have the possibility of getting scratched up (and IMO ruined). I almost pulled the trigger on Jetwing Prime but bought the JPN exclusive one that was just announced instead. Striker Prime will be my DOTM Optimus Prime. From what I understand, it's only 99 dollars, has a great paint scheme, Buster's guns, plus an assload of new weapons (that shield is gorgeous).

I'd get DA-28 Jetwing prime any day instead of Takara Buster Prime.

I dont see the diffrence in paint between jetwing and the regular ROTF prime ... At least on prime himself.
If your willing to wait a bit, there's a nemmesis jetwing comming out for slightly under $200. He has BOTH chrome and a jetpack!

Alright, thanks. I'm not interested in chrome that much either, and the figure will never be transformed, it stays in robot mode as long as I own it. And the more expensive figures I usually display on soft or padded platforms. Thanks for the input so far, I have 2 weeks to make up my mind.

If the Jetwings fit on Buster Prime this would be a no brainer. However, the chrome and paint apps are so much better that I have to say Buster Prime is the better choice. Although I do really want that Jetpack!

I don't like the jetpack much, so if I end up buying a Jetwing Prime, I'll sell the jetpack to you if you want. Seriously.

The problem with Buster is that he looks really out of place with the other Leader-class figures. He's simply too shiny.
As someone who has both, I'd say definitely go with Jetwing, he looks great with the likes of Sentinel Prime and Starscream.

That's my gripe with it as well. It would be displayed with the other 2 Leader Primes I have. They would looks like junk next to him.

Wait a little bit and get
Striker Optimus instead.

Is this going to be a Japanese exclusive as well?

For now, he is. He has the same base mold with the retooling as Jetwing Optimus Prime.

If both takara buster prime & DA-28 Jetwing are the same exact price.
IMHO,Might as well get the DA-28 Jetwing prime as it comes with a huge jetpack armor.
The DA-28 Jetwing prime is using the same exact remolded mold that buster prime used. only difference is no superior paint job & no smoke stacks that combine to form a riffle gun.

I thought Jetwing also had the buster gun. That's the main reason I want this figure.

Hey
I have the Hasbro ROTF leader Prime and Takara Jetwing Prime. No buster

If you don't care for the jetpack or gatling guns I would get Buster Prime. Jetwing Prime is a DOTM version, but it's only the abs and a new piece glued to the crotch. These pieces are the same color as the jetpack so they kind of stick out on the figure itself.
There are also remolds that improve the transformation immensely, but you already said that you weren't going to transform it.
I bought Jetwing Prime over Buster because they were the same price and I thought I was getting a lot more bang for my buck. However, I usually just end up playing with the figure without the jetpack. I honestly mostly just wanted the buster gun

Anyway, if you're just going to display it and not transform it, I would get the Buster prime. I think he looks a lot more awesome with the chrome and great paint job.
Hope this helps!

for the same price,If I had to choose over the buster gun or the jetwing armor. I'd choose the jetwing armor because it's a bigger & more impressive looking accessory piece.
the buster gun accessory/weapon is basic or deluxe sized. while the jetwing accessory/weapon pack is voyager or ultra sized.
I'm no rocket scientist. but it just seems like it was harder & cost more to create the jetwing armor. and it cost less & was easier to create the buster accessory/weapon compared to the jetwing armor.
IMHO,It just looks like the buyer is getting more bang for his buck by getting the jetwing armor, instead of the buster gun.

Buster all the way...IMO the best transformer made to date. Take a look at a picture of optimus from the movie (or talk to a big rig driver)and tell me that chrome is not essential to the movie Optimus look.

Striker Prime is too cheesy, and Jetwing just looks too dull. Go with Buster!

Buster has lips...if anything, that's too cheesy. Now, if you wanna buy the two pack with Jetfire...so be it, but for my money, I'd go with Striker if I were in the market for a leader movie Prime at this point. Assuming it can go between regular and souped up alt modes. If not, then I might change my stance.

Personally,I love DA-28 Jetwing prime the best. because it's the most super poseable big toy combination of optimus+jetfire combined.
Those 2 ROTF Leader sized toys of optimus+jetfire. produced a combined form with ZERO articulation in the legs. also having jetfire as a leader was not a good idea,as it puts too much strain/pressure on the leader sized optimus prime toy.
Since jetfire died & gave up his spark in the ROTF movie. his body got taken apart & used as armor to be placed all over optimus prime. thus this DA-28 Jetwing prime is the perfect toy to represent jetwing prime from the DOTM movie.
Personally,I could care less about chrome or more shinny paint. give me more bigger accesories & i'm a happy fan.

There seems to be some confusion. Jetwing DOES come with the Buster's Ion Cannon and it has storage for it in the wings of the armour.
Jetwing Optimus IS Buster Optimus without the chrome and slight retooling to help the armour fit better and have a different crotch and stomach. It does, however, lack the wrist-blades.
