When I grew up, my parents couldn't afford G1 TFs aside from Mini Cars and Constructicons, so most of my Autobots and Decepticons were made up of Go-Bots and swap-meet bootlegs with new names and personalities (which started me on the dubious road of fanfics and OCs). My Autobots were led by a knock-off Blue Gale from Xabungle (http://cgi.ebay.com/Soul-Chogokin-GX-28 ... 0219147948 NOT the toy I had, obviously, but I can't find pics of it anywhere online) that I named "Ironcar" from the mistranslated name of his Iron Gear wavemate that I thought was HIS name, and the 'cons were led by Tenticus, a robot spider from the knock-off Convertors line (http://counter-x.net/convertors/reviews/tenticus.html).

Well, as is the hobby of lots of GeeWunners, I've been trying to assemble updated versions of older characters, which, in my case, includes my deputized bootlegs. I found a HIGHLY satisfactory stand-in for Tenticus with the Fox Kids' redeco of Beast Wars Transmetal Tarantulas, but I've yet to find a suitable stand-in for Ironcar since, obviously, the "Soul of Chogokin" version of the Blue Gale I linked above won't work, due to price and scale issues.

So...does anyone have any possible suggestions?

What alternate mode are you going for? for the truck mode I'd say maybe some version of Ultra Magnus?



for car mode, perhaps Energon Beachcomber...




For Bug mode, that's going to be a little harder.
