Which Toy Series Are Currently In Stores?

I haven't followed the toys being released for about 10 years..

My interest was caught by some recent pictures I've seen online. I'm looking for stuff colored like the old 80's cartoon. I think they might be called the Universe or Generations series, but I have been confused by what seems to be multiple recolorings of the same mold. Can anyone give me a recommendation on the best releases of the following molds, and if they are still in stores like Toys-R-Us, Target, etc..?

I really want a set of Galvatron/Cyclonus/Scourge that matches the movie colors.

You should be able to find toys from the Generations line still in stores. You will find guys like Kup, Scourge, Red Alert, Soundwave, Megatron and probably Skullgrin. They are going to release a new Junkion based on the Wreck-Gar toy and Sky Shadow based on Japanese Black Shadow soon. If you are looking to pick up a neoG1 style collection odds are you're gonna pay for it and find them on places like ebay and Crave.

The three pack with Galvatron\Cyclonus\Rodimus was an Asia exclusive, while a Battle in Space set was released in U.S. with just Rod and Cyclonus.

Check out this sites toy galleries for detailed pics of figures that may interest you.

They have also seemed to sneak in G1 homages in the movie line as well. Figures like Bludgeon are great, even old Go-bot homages like Fracture(Crasher) that use the Classics Mirage mold.

You will find the updated G1 toys in the Classics, Henkei(Japan Classics), Universe, Reveal the Shield, Generations and United(again Japan imports) lines. Reveal the Shield are currently being found in discount retail stores like TJ Maxx\Marshalls\Ross, while Generations can usually be found at places like Walmart and Target.

Hoped that helped.

Thanks. That clears up some of my questions. I was about to buy some online, but I think I better go look around the stores first.

And so it begins

If you can't find any in the stores and don't wanna get burned on Ebay. There's a buy, sell and trade section on the site in the Forums menu there on the left of the screen.....see it? You could prolly save your self a few bucks searching there instead of Ebay. Or you can list what you want and people will come to you. Good little system really.

Good luck!

Thanks again everyone. I think I have it figured out that the Classics, Generations, Universe, Reveal the Shield, Henkei and United are all basically the same molds, and same size, just colored differently.

This was a lot of help, but I am still having trouble telling which series coloring of each one looks best to me.

Are these the way the Asia 3 pack Challenge At Cybertron are colored? Are the Battle in space colored differently?

Can someone break down which series each of these is from for me please?

No, they are colored the same, but the Battle in Space is a 2 pack rather than a 3 pack. Battle in Space contains only Rodimus and Cyclonus. While Challenge At Cybertron throws in Galvatron.

The Rodimuses which we can't see the image from are:

From the top Row left to right:
  • Botcon 2008 Exclusive Shattered Glass Rodimus
  • Takara Japan Exclusive Gentei Wildrider 2008,
  • Takara Japan Henkei Rodimus
  • Hasbro Classics Rodimus
  • The Bottom is Challenge at Cybertron Rodimus. The difference is the Battle in Space Rodimus has the rub sign as per the Reveal the shield line as opposed to the red autobot symbol on the hood that the Challenge at Cybertron version sports.

The Galvatron's from left to right are:

Hasbro Universe Galvatron 2008 (West), Takara Henkei Galvatron 2008 (Japan), Takara Challenge at Cybertron Galvatron 2011 (Asia)

The Scourges:

Generations Scourge 2011 (Hasbro), United Scourge 2011 (Takara Japan)

^ Thanks!

I'm not sure what's wrong with the Hot Rod picture, if it is not visible here.

I think I like all the Challenge at Cybertron versions the best, except for that Hot Rod. The see-through windows on the other versions look so much better than that solid blue.

Are those the only colors that Galvatron has been released in?

Nope, that's the Challenge at Cybertron Rodimus. Notice he lack of rub sign which I mentioned in my answer.

There 's a translucent blue/purple E-Hobby exclusive.
