Oh crap, that means Hasbro isn't doing a Scourge repaint of G2 Laser Prime...that also means that what we're looking at is another case where a figure is going to be in high demand due to a third-party add-on (that trailer/armor set for G2 Laser Prime) because that trailer goes best with Scourge. With these being a Botcon exclusive, that means production numbers will be low, demand will be even higher than usual (again, due to the third-party upgrade) and the only thing that will stop the scalpers (or even if there are no scalpers at all magically this time around), and make sure that there are enough of these to go around for collectors who want them will be the KO market. Time for CHMS to start KO'ing a new mold I guess...G2 Laser Prime, time to get reverse-engineered :P.

Don't really care who it is at this stage. I'm just excited we're getting more classics figures!

Yep, which is exactly why I think that's what they're doing. They say this will be one of the most sought after sets ever, and a Gobots themed set has been requested for a long time now and all the pieces seem to fit as to what they've said so far (including what they haven't said, like that even though it's from the "80's", they never said G1. Gobots is indeed something all of us that grew up with TF's during G1/the 80's would be well aware of.

This seems the most likely possibility to me. And "an enemy thought defeated"? That could very well be taken to refer to the gobots line in general; once a fierce competitor, now owned outright by Hasbro.
You two very well may have just hit the nail on this one. :APPLAUSE:

It's a new Samurai Huffer.

Or, since it's "never been updated," it's Samurai Pipes.

Okay so ONE figure is from the 80s, and is one of the three that have had no updates, ONE figure is definately scourge, so he is one of those three (i think), TWO figures are from the distant past, and could be one of the three, and one could also be from the eighties. Any help?

I have to imagine that they'd save Scourge for a retail line. First off, lots of people want it, so there'd be much gurny uproar were it to be a con-exclusive. Secondly, and more importantly, An all black repaint of a mold? With very, very minimal paint apps? Seems like a very cost-effective way of bulking out a wave or 3.

I'd also really like Scourge, and would probably shell out for the mega-guns trailer from Maketoy for it, so the above arguments aside, I really hope it's not Scourge.

Oh, and RiD Scourge isn't very 80s.

As for the clues, there's only about a million characters either one of those could relate to. If one or other of them relate to the same character, then perhaps we could start to narrow it down. Or if there was a theme announced, it'd be much easier. Even the 80s thing doesn't indicate G1 Cartoon. It could be G1 TF comics, or toy-bios, or not TF at all, like GI Joe or Gobots. Too soon for Human Alliance basics repainted into Joe vehicle colours with their little partners made to look more like Cobras or Joes. Quite a few recently that'd work as Gobots as well.

At least. The others could be too.

As in RiD Scourge? No. BotCon's Twitter confirmed that it is not RiD Scourge.

Don't worry. It's not Scourge. ;)

GoBots is probably a good guess now.

Its a well established fact that The Movie toys are off limits for Botcon sets.

I'd say Gobots is a fairly decent assumption.

I also thing a Sentinel Prime figure from G2 classics Prime is not too far fetched.

Other than that I have no idea, nor inclination to guess at this time.

Oops. I thought it was only the figures of characters from the movies, not the toys which didn't portray any characters featured in the movie, but just happened to be released in the same line.
which is a shame :(

You know, at first glance going from the sword on the back and the shape of the shoulder pads, I thought it was the Drift mold @_@ Then I actually read the post. Much better choice :KREMZEEK:

And come on, guys! With all that information there's really only one person it could be.

Wheelimus Prime, savior of the Transformers race!
And if you disagree, he'll punch you in the face!

I rest my case.

Thank freakin' god it's not Scourge. I was about to blow a gasket, because I have high hopes for that mold. Black and teal-colored hopes, with some transparent red. Yeah. 8)

So. If they're not doing figures Hasbro is planning, and they're not doing RiD Scourge, can we take that as confirmation that Hasbro is doing him?

More like a confirmation that if that mold were to be given the Scourge treatment, it would Hasbro who'd do it. ;)

Actually at last Botcon FunPub said that they would probably be able to use movieverse figures as long as they a) weren't onscreen and b) were not licensed vehicles, although the tone of voice in which they said it suggested that they weren't considering using any, just that it was an option.

I'm surprised no-one has suggested Toxitron (unless someone did and I missed it). He's a legend, on a meta level. Or alternately, it's Staxx.

Ahh, did not know that. But I still say its unlikely they'll use movie molds, they have an aesthetic that's very different to anything they've done.

That's probably because he was done last year from Animated Prime. So its unlikely he'd get a new version so soon if at all.

I think an omnibot set would be really cool. I know their names have been re-used, but the G1 characters themselves haven't ever been updated, have they? They also fit in with the TFCC dimension hopping theme...

Downshift = wheeljack mold
Overdrive = jazz mold
Camshaft = ?? mold

If not them, then I think a gobots set would be pretty awesome, but I can't imagine what molds would work well... there are a couple of scout molds that might work for Cy-kill (with the wheels on the shoulders), but nothing I can think of deluxe or better. Would Wreck-Gar really work well as a Cy-Kill? And there definitely aren't any good Leader-1 molds... turbo? cop-tur? crasher's been done... scooter? :???:

Honestly, I wish Hasbro / Takara would produce new-mold classics style updates of go-bots...

And have Bandai sue them for creating new molds based on their designs? I don't think so. Remember, Hasbro owns the franchise, but Bandai owns the original molds.
