That Brick you like.

In my opinion and experience, as long as transformers exist, there will always be "Bricks"
A Brick is a big,non-posable figure with little detail and seamingly little play value.
However,I busted open armada Overload, and I fell in love almost instantly. That was years ago, but I remember alot of moments were a brick made it as one of my personal favorites, and I still have overload to this day!
Lots of you guys love Ultimate Optimus Prime, and Armada Prime.
G1 to G2 (And other series like that were being a brick was a standard) shouldn't count, but if there is a posatively brick filled figure you just love, it's worth a mention here.

Ginrai, and his Powered-up version, God Ginrai are my two favourite bricks and are some of the few G1s that I allow in my house for that reason.

I'd consider giving a bollock for the Energon Ultra Magnus repaint of Overload. That's how sad I am. My real favourite 'brick' though is '84 Sideswipe, still one of the coolest ever if you ask me, which you sort of did.

Well soundwave, but for a different reason. I mean he transformers into a blue brick basically.
Also Big convoy. He's wolly mammoth mode is pretty solid and very brick like. It's one of the most static beast modes.

Soundwave is pretty much not a brick by 84 standards - and if his knees bent the correct way, by early 2000's standards.
On the other hand... gimme either 1984 Jazz, Sideswipe, or Bluestreak (not Prowl, oddly), or 1985 Smokescreen and Inferno...

I'm sorry, but with your sig and av pics, that post just sounds soooo dirty. lol
As for bricks.... yeah, Armada Overload is one of my favorites as well. Heck, the whole Overload, Prime, Jetfire combo for that matter. I still have it on display. I loved it then, I love it now.
Only exceptional G1's won me over. Perceptor for one. Yeah, not the most posable, the face isn't accurate, but doggone it he looks good in a Neo-G1 setup and looks far more accurate than the RTS version.

My favorite bricks used to be the Armada Megatron/Tidal Wave combo.
Nowadays I find bricks far too insufferable to have a favorite.

Non-G1 bricks? Hmm...
I have Armada Overload as well, and the only uses I found for him were as Jetfire's transport in vehicle mode or as he is now, attached to Jet Convoy. I also tried to combine Megatron with Tidal Wave, but it looked like **** so I didn't keep it that way. Armada Megatron is probably my favorite Megatron, character wise, so I didn't want to defile it.
The only one I have that is non-G1 is Supreme Starscream from Cybertron. Huge, but very simple transformation. Not poseable either, except maybe pointing the arms. If it can be considered a brick due to that, then he's my favorite. Still nice to look at.
I must also give honorable mention to Powermaster Prime, Masterforce Overlord, and the brick of all bricks, the big green version of G2 Tank Megatron.

Because of his articulation, I don't know if this topic qualifies Target Exclusive DOTM Ratchet as a brick. To alot of fans he is but, when campared to other DOTM voyagers, it makes me appreciate the ROTF line.

Ahh Overload how I love thee, let me count the ways...
I'd did pick my user name from him and Thundercracker.
He's an awesome brick.
Another brick I love is Energon Wing Saber.
Don't know why, he does absolutely nothing in robot mode, his only articulation is in his elbows and its minimal.
No, hips, no knees technically, no head movement at all due to the way he transforms, and combines with Prime.

That right there is as much elbow movement as he can muster. You can fake it a little more though.
But there's just something about him that I totally love. Besides being able to combine with Optimus Prime of course.

Gundam-it man you beat me to it!! Energon Wing Saber is a prime non G1 candidate. It's funny when you think, for the most articulation and range of motion that Energon Prime had with his vehicle limbs you'd think they gave Wing Saber about the same...not! My G1 brick choice is Metroplex...'nuff said!

I don't love bricks....period.
All my G1's are in storage and looking around my displays I don't have anything with less than 10 POA sitting on a shelf at the moment so the only example I tolerate is the G2 Megs Tank - but he's already been mentioned.
Nope - can't think of one.
I know which one annoyed me most as a kid though - Powermaster Prime. That statue set the bar almost as low as you can get.

Wing Saber does give Optimus Prime something that his vehicle components don't: Wrist swivels. Also in the Attack mode, he gets moveable fingers (sort of).
He also gets ankle swivels in attack mode as well. Though they aren't as useful as the wrists from flight mode.

I have the all Player 2 version of Armada Super Jet Pants Prime Magnus! and he's great, but the Overload/Ultra Magnus part is definitely the coolest and brick-iest.
Energon Megatron is pretty cool too, but very much a brick. Oh, he has joints, but you can't make him do much more than raise his arms a bit or he'll fall over, or look really stupid. He looks pretty awesomely badass just standing staring someone out though. Sadly, I own that one in it's original colours and not the Galvatron repaint.

RiD/Car Robots Ultra Magnus. He can't do anything beyond waving his arms around willy nilly, but DAMN his alt mode is incredible. In fact, I daresay his alt mode is the best incarnation of UM to date. Oh, and of course, he combines with Prime to form Omega Prime, who is just incredibly badass. Even if they combine through the power of holding hands...

And of course...

He can be posed. Not tremendously well, I admit, but he can be posed.

@ the bolded part.

You must have completely miss my post where I said he transforms into a brick. The only transformer that resembles a brick even more is a blaster.

You're absolutely right; in fact, there's even a few extremely well posed pictures in the galleries (nice job Ryan) now that I'm looking through them more carefully. I always thought those joints were just for the combining feature @_@ Still pretty brickish though, and lovably so.
Also, it's completely true! I think the only reason they gave him and Prime such well articulated fingers is so that they can practice their secret handshake to make the combination process even more flamboyant.

Well, I never owned him, but I always thought Devastator was pretty awesome. And really all the 80s Transformers of the original pre-movie lines. While modern Transformers have definitely improved on poseability, the original lines in all their brickish glory win out on durability.
Plus, what makes the 80s combiners more awesome is that they really haven't ever figured out how to do a combiner that has the awesomeness of the 80s looks with the poseability of a modern single figure. So between the modern combiners and the old ones, I still like the old ones better.
