For those that have Death Star Vader....

I would really like to hear everyone's over all POV. I admit that with the recent Anakin/Vader Star Destroyer release and pics posted on the site, curiosity drove me to check out DS Vader and from there onto a video review. I was sold and I sought out DS Vader and got him for $90 bucks MISB.

I think I will be very impressed when I have it in hand and the video reviewer (though saw only 1) gave it mad praises. So what did the rest of you fans think, was it a hit or miss. I look forward to hearing back from those of you. Either way it's cool looking, much better than Star Destroyer Vader and it will be the only Star Wars TF I shall own....unless? :VEHI:

It's... not bad. I got him on clearance. He looks big and menacing, but the transformation to Death Star is pretty much fold him up and panel-massaging. I've tried a few times but can never get it fully flush.

He's ok for what he is. He's the only star wars/transformer I own. I didn't care for the features, or all the mini figures. He is a pain to transform back into death star at times. Though he works as a big menacing guy.

I bought death star vader, for the sole purpose of sticking him in robot mode on my planet former display shelf in the middle of unicron & primus.

Like others in this thread, this is the only swtf toy I own. it's also the only starwars toy that i own.

I like death star vader because it forms a round ball better than unicron does. also the robot mode looks very cool & blocky.

over-all it's a awesome designed & engineered toy.

i'm not a fan of the recent 4 changer leader sized toy that transforms into darth vader, anakin & those 2 space ship modes. the reason is the toy has pop off pieces that are needed to make the space ship modes look decent. i also don't care for the sculpt designs in neither of the 4 modes.

Lack of bicep swivel really hurts this figure. He has a light saber but can't really wield it it many convincing ways.

Transformation: think Humpty Dumpty. The panels are about as thick as a large chocolate egg so it feels like piece one back together.

DO NOT forget to take the cape out of the box. It is taped to the inside of the box and many people miss it and throw it away. He is a great figure, one of the best from the Star Wars line.

 Whoa, I wonder how many made the mistake about getting the cape out before chucking the box! Thanks for the tip LOST Cybertronian and great feedback from the rest of you. Its clear that Vader does have his flaws like a lot of TFs but its also clear that he has greatness too and I can't wait till he arrives! :VEHI:

Like many others in this thread, when I initially saw pictures of him I was all set to get my first and only SWTF... but eventually decided against it. I think I was just trying to save money at the time, but all the reviews I've seen of him since hasn't convinced me I made the wrong decision. While I can't give a firsthand opinion, summing up everything I've seen, it seems like he's... okay. In terms of a display piece, he's actually pretty frickin' cool. In terms of a posable, play-with-able toy, you might as well save your money and go for something like Unicron or Primus. That is, if you want a huge, awesome looking toy that turns into a big ball.

A note on the cape, though: I've heard people having a lot of problems with it, in terms of it getting caught or tangled in the angles and joints of the figure, and generally just looking floppy and unimpressive. Most people I know that own the figure have actually just said screw it, and threw it away.

Of course, the only opinion that really matters is yours. If you can find it anywhere cheap, I say go for it; worst case scenario you put it up on eBay and make someone else happy. For a few minutes >:oP

I've had no trouble with mine. As it needs to be removed for transformation I don't understand the problem. There are plenty of storage compartments around the figure to stow kibble.

Well so far based on what I have read my only real dissapointments are not so good points of articulation. It would have been sweet if he could wield his lightsaber with both hands. I don't see myself keeping him in alt mode as much but I will give it a go at least once. But as someone posted earlier that he does look menacing and not as goofy with the Empire logo on his head. 8-} :VEHI:
