G1 Scorponok Remake

Has here been any remake of the G1 Scorponok? I know they have reimagined the character a few times for Beast Wars and the live action movie, but I really want to see something that looks like the comic character. Have there been any rumors about a classics/generations version?

I've haven't heard any rumors about a Classics universe Scorponok. There were some rumors about a possible Encore reissue of the G1 mold a while back, but nothing has ever come of it. To date Energon Scorponok is probably the closest homage.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing this in the stores. I'm not too crazy about his robot mode.

There hasn't really been a Classics Scorponok, however Energon Scorponok is the closest we've gotten to one. Not only is he a mechanical scorpion, but was originally said to have been designed with a base mode in mind though that was scrapped.

He was also repainted into Cybertron Dark Scorponok which is a homage to Black Zarak; G1 Scorponok's repaint.

Nothing has been said of a classics Scorponok, but since Generations was deemed a deluxe size toy line, any toy made of him for the line would surely fail to be a good representation of the character.

And there's allways the Elite Actionmaster for Black Zarak...

like others said thus far,the energon scorponok toy mold is the best updated homage out their that homages the 1987 scorponok toy.

at best we can all hope takatra or hasbro repaints the energon scorponok toy mold into more closer G-1 toy colors. with maybe a retool new head that transforms into a headmaster lord zarak tiny headmaster robot mode.

Or Headrobots does a Zarak. With some accessories too, I guess.

That's not Black Zarak. That's Donkey Punch. You read it right.

i'm surprissed a 3rd party company hasn't done a zarak headmaster for energon scorponok yet. it's especially surprising since they did a headmaster for walmart universe 2.0 classics ultra sized hardhead.

maybe we can create a thread, ask & hope a 3rd party company reads the thread here in the KO section. asking for a headmaster that transforms into a humanoid zarak tiny robot.

yeah in addition to the zarak headmaster, the shield & sphere long stick sword would make excellent accessories & make it seem & feel more G-1

Yeah, that would be a good idea there. I got out my Energon Scorponok and, for me, he's pretty good. And with a new Zarak head and those accessories would make a good Classics Scorponok.

If we're going to ask for third party heads for Headmaster homages, how about Muzzle for ROTF NIghtbeat as well? Even Hunter for Classics Sunstreaker?

I do love G1 Scorponok. He was one of my first TF's as a kid and he's still one of my favourites to this day. Thankfully I still have him.

The main problem would be scale. ROTF Nightbeat's head was tiny and U2.0 Sunstreaker already has the unfolding crest gimmick just to fit into the torso. The space is just too small for anything with an even halfway decent human/nebulon mode.
Scorponok is smaller than the Onslaught mold but it still would be worth a try on Headrobots part. Especially after the Maximus head they did for TFCon.

I can not DISAGREE more with this statement. That would mean all the effort i've put into getting all the bits and pieces together for my G1 would have been a complete waste of time. Well not really because i know it's the real deal from back in the day and not an extraneous and egregious remake.

Go and put the energy into a Classics Scorponok and leave G1 alone please and thank you! Is nothing sacred anymore with all this Encore/reissue nonsense?

GAWD i very much dislike remakes!!!

yeah monstergrotusque!
it'd be like when I completed the original Star Wars films on VHS from off-cuts and half-chewed tapes and then they went and released them on DVD and it invalidated my entire life!

HA! if you can believe it i still only own the original movies on VHS. When they put em on DVD they added all the new footage and that certainly invalidated the Star Wars remakes. IMO. Not everything needs to be shiny and new to be "better". Believe it or not. there are still lots of really minty G1's out there to scoop up. They all aren't falling apart and chewed up.

But i do get the sarcastic point that your trying to make (and it made me laugh) but it still doesn't change the fact that i don't like remakes.

I don't even know if I would want a re-release of the original Scorponok mold. What I had in mind was a smaller figure, that would fit in with the classics/generations. I don't need a fortress mode, but just something that goes from scorpion to a figure that resembles the Marvel comic.

I'd think with him being featured in Beast Wars, Energon, and quite a bit in one of those live action movies, there might be a market for him. I'll probably just have to keep dreaming for Hasbro to do this, but hopefully a 3rd party takes the initiative.

As I don't have a spare two grand, a reissue is the only way I'm ever going to be able to afford him. I wish I'd bought Brave Max back in 2000, but even he now commands a significant premium MIB. Also I honestly cant see how a Fort' Max' reissue would/could damage the second hand value of the original figure.

Besides, I much prefer a re-issue to a KO or a third party any day.

Stay away from the Energon Scorponok, I had two and they both broke on the same part just due to being Transformed. Don't get me wrong it's an awesome mold and it's possible to get him into a sort-off basemode, but the panels connecting his arms to the body are horribly fragile.

No, it doesn't, which is why you buy the newer DVDs with the original editions and not the older DVDs with Special Edition versions only. ;)
