From TFW2005:
Autobot Burnout
Okay, so let me get this straight:
For the ROTF retools, Japan gets Buster Prime w/ transforming gun and chrome, we get Battle Hooks Prime with sucky battle damage.
Now, Japan gets BADASS DEATH RACE FORM W/ HUGE ASS CHAINGUNS OF DOOM Prime, and we get... a smaller Optimus Prime with the butterfly trailerpack super armor that falls apart far too easily and has only decent articulation?
God DAMNIT. Japan is like the only country where getting more Optimus Prime toys is actually AWESOME.
What he said...

I have had this on pre-order, and can't wait to get this one in hand myself.
As for last reply, yes Japan in general gets all the coolest toys...

Now if it came with a trailer that transformed into the weapons dock.

You know, at first I thought I was going to like the dark colored plastic. But after seeing it... it looks even cheaper then the light gray plastic.
Other then the gun and having a leader prime with the DOTM abs, I'm not really seeing anything here I want to spend that much on.

After seeing these pictures, I canceled my Pre-order, Dark grey looks really cheap, and over all, not thrilled about paying an extra 70$ for just a gun and shield. Also Not paying 60$ for the Blades that are freebies over there. This " Hobby" is getting exhaustive.
I hope Hasbro brings one of these versions to our shore, but if they don't, then I'm fine with my custom primes. Hasbro has already proven that the best stuff stays in Japan, so I'm gonna go ahead and guess I won't be getting a DOTM leader prime figure, which IMO.
Is the only time I WANTED another leader Optimus.
Instead we have over-sized loose arms BB, Clunky Arms Iron Hide, and Undersized Grumpy faced Sentinel.

So which one is which? Is the one with the crappy dark plastic Striker? The one with the lighter plastic is shown more in alt mode and has the buster gun so it's not the standard release. But yeah, if I had intended on getting this, that dark plastic would lead to my cancellation if that's the one it is.

I never understand it when people say that. The light grey they often use on TFs is so horribly cheap-looking, it's practically white. Pretty much anything darker looks better than that. Same with MP Rodimus, I much prefer the dark grey they used over light-grey, almost-white paint. *shrug*
This thing looks pretty cool, but nowhere near worth the price. If they brought it over domestically and included the Jetwing accessories AND the new grille/shield thing and sold it for the same price as Ultimate Prime, I believe it would be a success.

What's with the two-tone gray plastic?
Good thing I bought Jetwing OP and the DMK-01 model kit. Now my Bayverse OP collection is complete. This one's a pass for me.

Takara isn't gonna buy out Hasbro.
Hasbro is still paying licensing fees to Takara Tomy for the use of the molds.
Hasbro just needs a better brain at picking which items come stateside.

I'm with you on this kirbenvost. I'm rather fond of Prime having darker grey plastic. It looks much better than the light grey that has been used on almost every figure to some extent since Hasbro decided to use cheaper plastics yet jack up the prices of deluxe figures from $9.99 to $12.99.
I'll have to look into this version more, I never bought a BayFormer leader Prime since I thought all were total crap. This one looks good.

I like the Ultimate Prime with the Trailer.Except for the fact that he's called "ultimate" (supreme would have been better)and few other grivences (lack of articulation and proper rockets or guns).I'm sure a third party will remedy this someday.I love Striker's Stealth force mode.Still bothers how by now they haven't worked in some mechanism to make Prime's faceplate slide on and off.HA Bumblebee,HA Jazz, abd HA Roadbuster have smaller heads and the have the options.Maybe a Leader Prime with all those attachments will be made with a trailer to hold everthing. Then it would be an "ULTIMATE" Optimus Prime.

I agree with you both, I prefer the darker plastic. I'm actually tempted to buy both, but likely won't.
