Battle Ops 'Bee; Worth it?

So I saw Battle Ops Bumblebee at TJ Maxx, the gold version with the gold legends Bumblebee and the legends Mudflap for $34.99. Such is my love of shiny things that I practically had to slap myself to not buy it. Now that I'm thinking a bit more clearly I'm wondering if it is worth it. I already have more than enough Movieverse bees (NEST, HA, Battle Blades, Daredevil and DOTM) and I don't especially like the character, I just like the idea of having a huge transforming gold Camaro. What do you guys think of this version of this figure?

I like him. He totally smokes DOTM Leader BB, I bought one of those and returned it the same day. He was so loose he couldn't even stand without his MechTech backpack.

I'm as sick of Bumblebee as anyone, but I gotta admit it's a cool figure. Scales with absolutely nothing, but that aside, he's fun and looks good.

Yeah the scale issue is another thing for me. And I love that he comes with himself. It's Hasbro gleefully admitting that they don't even care about scale.

I also saw him at TJmaxx a few days ago for $34.99. I was blown by the gold metalic paint. a evencloser looks reveals it's also got chrome colored wheels rims & the tip of the right forearm is chromed.

It's worth mentioning I did the research & it's a Cosco store exclusive. so this is bound to keep increasing in price as it was made in low volume units.

I didn't buy this toy because I hate over sized toys that are way bigger than their media size scale versions. I do think the ROTF or HFTD battle op bumblebee $59.99 toy is well made & the best of the beyond huge movie verse bumblebee toys. I Didn't like the 2007 Ultimate bumblebee toy because it was too ugly & bulky in design. I don't like the DOTM Leader sized toy because it's got way too many extra design details & it's over loaded with annoying toddler themed weapons.

The only bumblebee movie I own is the $29.99 Human alliance bumblebee toy. because it's styled like a alternator with realistic car interior. also it's designed the best.

I didn't like thus didn't buy any of the deluxe sized bumblebee toys. because I didn't like the designs. I came close to buying the HFTD Battle blades bumblebee deluxe toy. but I decided against buying it.

I suspose if hasbro ever creates a $29.99 Human alliance Nitro Bumblebee 100% new mold or the race car DOTM styled bumblebee with the wing/spolier in the $29.99 Human alliance size, then I'll buy it. I Highly doubt hasbro/Takara will create this. as the DOTM toy line will stop making new mold in February 2012.

I kinda wish hasbro/takara would make such a big fuss over rodimus prime the way they do bumblebee. it it would be sweet getting a ultimate or leader sized rodimus prime toy every year. with 3 new mold deluxe hotrods every year.

Until they started showing up at the discount stores recently, they were going for over 100 bucks on eBay...whatever that's worth.

If you're into collecting Masterpieces, get him. This one is the best version of Battle Ops 'Bee, even better than Takara's Movie Masterpiece Bumblebee. And far cheaper to boot.

I might had considered buying it if they went the car model or alternators/BT route by adding in realistic interior seats, dash board, steering wheel, stick shifter,etc..

Even then, with the added inner car interior,I still wouldn't have bought it. because sometimes Persona & design comes into the factor. I wasn't a fan of the non-talking radio-talking movie verse bumblebee persona. he didn't seem that intelligent & seemed like he had a kids mentality. I didn't like the over-all movie verse & didn't care for bumblebees movie verse designs.

Lastly the toy is too over sized compared to how the characted was shown in size scale in the movies.

And what's your verdict? Were you steered right or do you want to fight people now?

Well getting him out of his packaging was super fun (I actually cut myself while removing his plastic-tie bandolier so you guys can expect my medical bill) but once I got him out I was very impressed. I don't normally enjoy lights and sounds outside of early lego but I was quite moved by his extensive electronica and his robot mode bulk is very imposing even if he out-scales everyone. Once I figured out how to wriggle his cannon into place his transformation was fairly painless. I completed Bumblebee 101 with HA 'Bee and Battle Blades so by now I am capable of transforming Movieverse 'Bees purely with the power of my mind, so that's a plus.

Once in car mode I was delighted again by his mass and by his delightful shiny goldness. Plus the fact that he farts out the classic G1 theme (personally I can only get as far as "their battle to" so I'm doubly impressed) is fantastic. I also love the adorably shiny mini Bee and I guess there's a table somewhere with one leg a centimetre shorter than the others where Mudflap will come in handy. $35 is a lot to drop on an impulse buy but I wasn't disappointed this time.

Battle Ops Gold Bee is one of my favorite movieveres Bumblebees. He's a good buy. I see some people have a problem with his scale. If you really need to display Battle Ops Bee with other figures, the deluxe ROTF Arcee trio, legends ROTF Wheelie along with Bee is a great display. The only Cons that may come close in scale is DLX Ravage and DLX Laserbeak.

I got one of these myself this past weekend. I thought it was a pretty decent price after seeing what its going for on the secondary market. For some reason mine had glitter all over the outside of the package which made it extra shiny and nearly irresistible to buy
