so anyone curious as to what happened to a dino/mirage mold? or does anyone have a line on that info? We've got just about everyone but him and he's probably one of the coolest looking characters in the movie so, yeah, i'd like to get my mitts on one!

Doesn't exist yet. Perhaps it will exist in the upcoming movie trilogy line, but as of right now, there has been no information on a transforming Dino/Mirage.

Sorry

I'm really not liking how this movie line's playing out. Jolt, Barricade, and the Twins get new molds right off the bat (despite none of which really warrant it) yet the "shiny new must-get-now" guys like Soundwave, Que, and Mirage have gone 6+ months with absolutely nothing.

Mattel's got some kind of exclusive toy rights with Ferrari, the car company itself has been, shall we say, strict with how DotM portrayed it's product, and the renaming Mirage "Dino" had something to do with all that legal craziness and not just to honor IIRC Ferrari's founder's son. I'm not sure if Hasbro could avoid all that with just an imitation Ferrari alt (although that RPM has done just that). Hopefully they can work something out, but it doesn't look like we'll be getting anything soon.

hadn't thought of the legal side of it. Ferrari is probably just being strict about it. too bad.... he's a cool character IMO

Pretty sure the legal side of things played no process in Dino's lack of release yet, but more of Hasbro trying to hide his identity well before the release of DOTM.

Ok, so now that DOTM's ran it's box-office course, what keeping him?

From concept to production to retail takes about half a year, so it's not like we're behind schedule at all.

Oh, I thought maybe they would have had all that done for a while, and we'd be seeing a proto soon. Well, I just hold high hopes for that trilogy line. Hope it's not just re-paints and minor re-tools... White Wheeljack's cool, but Mirage would be FANTASTIC!

They had every reason to hide Soundwave's identity, but we've known about his toys for ages. Mirage/Dino's wasn't a massive spoiler to the movie or anything, just another car Autobot (though a fancy, new, potentially highly marketable car Autobot).

IIRC, we had the core cast already at this point with the last two movie lines, including last-minute addition Jolt! There's not even a hint of Mirage/Dino coming out in any mainline fashion: no listings, no leaked photos, no stolen prototypes, nothing.

I don't know anything for sure (and don't think anyone outside of Hasbro does) but on past form we can guess at a couple of things.

1. Hasbro has a record in not always making a sure-fire-hit character right out of the gate for a movie when it would make all the sense in the world - Commander Cody being the most wanted Clone from RotS but he didn't get any plastic until a year after the film - and Hasbro getting it's choices of Leader-Class figs wrong this time around - who wouldn't want a big Shockwave insteed of the same old same old BB?

2. There may well be some image-rights/legalise from Ferrari (after all we know that VW wont allow a Bug Bumblebee) but when Hasbro have really wanted to this hasn't stopped them adapting a mold to look similar but not quite there. Special Ops Jazz as a not-Porsche anyone.

So I'm "guessing" Hasbro is playing a longer game and leaving a "must have" in the locker for when the new Line takes shape.

So, it's just a question of being patient.

Why is everyone treating this guy as if he's like the biggest character of the whole movie and thatt he general public are committing mass Seppuku over not being able to own him as a toy.

He was in the movie for like 5 seconds of screen time and said one word and then disappeared into oblivion. If it weren't for the constant "Where's Dino/Mirage" questions and comments I would have forgotten he ever existed in the first place.

Freaking Deep Wang was more a more significant character in that movie and actually did something, where's his toy? I demand my racist Asian stereotype toy.

He's DotM's Jolt, only without the toy :P

Clunk. Clunk. Clunk. Stiiiiiiiiff.

Would be more drool worth if it wasn't obvious the creator can't animate for beans xP Good at modeling & rigging, but lacking in the animating department xP

I view him more as DotM's answer to RotF's Sidewipe, the cool new Bot that gets a few lines and a cool kill.

Plus, Bay finally found out how to film red.

Nobody cares for Deep Wang because we don't care much for human characters period. That, and Wang was particularily annoying and pointless filler, IMO easily the worst part of DotM.

I actually felt Dino had more screen prescence than Sideswipe had in RotF. His voice is distinctive, he has a cool design that's more smooth than most movie Autobots and his weapons scream "I am toy-etic"

Since we still lack news on an actual Dino toy, I'm planning to repurpose something else as him. Could anybody give suggestions? It should be:
-a transforming robot toy
-rougly deluxe size
-red sporty car
-detailed robot

So far I've got WFC Cliffjumper, Prime Cliffjumper and the Road-Bots Ford GT on my list. Movie Cliffjumper & RotF Swerve might work too, but those are obviously repaints next to Bumblebee and Sideswipe.

Those are all sketchy retcon choices. Toys aren't made in a week, it takes time, and to be honest, from what I know and from who I know, Dino is going to be made, it's just going to take a bit of time. As Dead Metal says, when it comes down to it he's an obscure character. It's alot like Elita-1. It took 1.5+ years for her to finally be made.

OK OK OK Blurrz isn't usually wrong about this kind of thing though, is he? I Mean, I doubt they'll make him into a re-paint, that would be dumb.

A red repaint of DOTM Sideswipe with some mechtech scythe could pass as a Dino

Well, from what i've heard, ther most likely is going to be one, the thing is whether its going to be a ferrari or not. Hasbro wil probably try to make it a ferrari,, but probably cant because of matel, so they'll probably gonna make it a car that looks like a ferrari, like the car he is in the Dark Of the Moon video game. >:oP

These guys have made a custom one thats pretty decent.
