I recently won a loose, near mint G1 Grimlock from ebay .

But need a clarification 'cause the site reference I used at geocities is all but dead.

Based on wiki, Grimlock's Diaclone incarnation had a Diaclone driver but for obvious reasons, was later ditched in the TF release. My previous K.O Grimlock had an opaque plastic cover located on his back but impossible to open. The Grimlock I won can be opened with ease.

He comes with a rub symbol and is stamped Japan. Is this the 1985 version?

Any input would be most welcomed.......a bit on the OCD side.

My Grimlock's cover opens, I wouldnt worry about it. Im sure its normal.

It was an excellent figure btw, the one I got, for a 25 year old + figure

On a side note, when compared to the K.O Grimlock, for those interested to know, you can see the difference between the neat molding of his head and the designs on his thighs. Obviously the original has a much smoother molding and the K.O. weapons wobbles instead of locks into his fists.

Plus the K.O. back cover takes like forever to remove or permanently stuck.

And the chest part won't lock in place.
