Movie Toys Versus Non Movie Toys, Where do you stand??

I am only getting the toys that coincide with the actual Movie.. although I will say that there are some movie figures that are pretty cool.. but the Cybertron/Energon repaints are not what I'm interested in.. I mean I passed up on those when they were first released, so this go round, I'm not interested either..
If its a movie line figure then its unique and hasn't been done before.. and there are a few molds that they have put together that intrigue me.. but the rest are just funky...
Plus I'm not impressed by the real gear figs as well... they are just not detailed and intricate enough for me..
Besides with just the deluxes, Voyagers , and Leader class I will have spent about $240.00 USD alone!!
Which will you be collecting??

I bought everything (even the Cyber Stompin stuff). Also, you are missing out on some good figures by not getting the Real Gear.

Of the figures of characters who will appear in the movie, I have the following:
Bumblebee
Brawl
Barricade
Bonecrusher
Blackout (x2)
Ironhide
Scorponok
Starscream
I do plan of picking up Jazz and Ratchet in the near future. I'm still debating on whether or not to pick up either the Voyager or Leader versions of Optimus and Megatron. I finally saw Leader Megs at Target and he look better in person than in pictures.
Of the non-movie figures, I have Wreckage and the Real Gear figures Spy Shot 6 and BoosterX10. For someone who doesn't appear in either the movie or the game, Wreckage is a excellent figure. Not really into the Real Gear line, but Booster X10 is a lovely little homage to Laserbeak.
As for the figures that will end up in the TF movie video game, Dreadwind's the only one I'm interested in.

There you go again bub, being absolutist.
You know this is only going to result in you at some point falling in love with Energon figures and having to go back and buy these now rare repaints at 3x the cost.

I stand with you. Energon repaints. Yeah, no thanks. All I want of those is Arcee since I have every Arcee ever made. All the kiddie stuff, once again, I'll pass. I'm just getting the figures that are actually in the movie storyline and at that, one version of each, except for Megs and Prime, of whome I will be getting the Leader and Voyager.
Oh and while I'm at it, Cutesy non transforming Transformers, No Freakin thanks.

QFT. Real Gears are all kickass toys. Spy Shot by himself is better than most of the Deluxes.
As far as where I stand, I'm getting everything that I like. The only things that I haven't picked up are Signal Flare, Hardtop, the Cyber Stompers(I will get them eventually), and the Cyber Slammers, save for Prime.
Oh, and the Robot Heroes kickass as well. They may not transform, but they are perfect little representations of their G1 characters. Prime, Shockwave, Soundwave, and Ravage especially.

Noooo thats one series of which, though I saw some cool characters.. I will not buy from.. you forget... I started getting back into Transformers back when Armada made the seen.. but I quickly realized that the Armada line was not what I was expecting...so everything I missed in between is what I really fell in love with.. Like Beast Wars, and RID..Not a fan of the Beast machines.. way too funky..and too ethereal for my taste.. I'm a spiritual person, but no where near as spiritual as they were headed.. I felt like I was watching the Hippie transformers Show...Peace, Love, Grtow back plants and organics on Cybertron!! Geez!!
As far as Energon and Armada are concerned.. those figures and story are just updated rehashes of G-1.. and I'm not interested, when I have a live action movie that sports that concept, and is even better at it..
Besides I gave away my Armada Figures.. they were just not what I was interestred in...
And I wasn't being an absolutist.. I said there were a few figures "non movie" that were cool.. but I'm undecided as to wether to get them or not..

I agree... besides, i wasn't being an absolutionist.. I said there are a few non movie exceptions that are cool.. but I'm not sure about picking them up yet...
But yeah the cutsie Robot non transforming figures are not on my list..
I will say though that the Robot Replicas (revoltech) movie figures are cool, and I will be picking them up.. they are gonna be my PC guardians at the office!!

Simple philosophy.
Buy what you like.
I bought Booster and Longview, and the Robot Heros. That's all I liked, that's all I bought.

So far, there's only 3 movie toys that got my interest:
- Voyager Blackout (that con alone has more character than anycon produced since Beast Wars (except MPs)) It fits to the design of G1s.
- Booster X10 (LASERBEAK!!!)
- Leader Optimus (not so bad)
Except for those, I'm not a big fan of movie designs, I like the classic line better.

More marketing surveys
on a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being the highest and 5 being the lowest, i give it a fifty-two

I like the regular lines better.
I'll buy the G1-colored Movie Jazz, but nothing else really gets my eye.
MAYBE the Real Gear Laserbeak, but I had him in my hand at Walmart today and bought a teriyaki chicken sub at Subway's instead. Meh.
As for what classifies as a "normal" Transformers line... not anything with a freaking cyber-key or junk like that... more G1/G1-looking Takara (Japanese) offerings.

I got 2 real gear bots which I really like. I'm considering getting more. As for the movie line, I wasn't planning on getting any, but Wreckage looks pretty good, so I picked him up. Beyond that, I don't know if I'll pick up anything else from the movie line. Maybe one of those G1 colored Starscream...maybe.

I'm only getting ones that are clearly G1 homages for my favorite characters, and ones that are just plain cool. I'm not a completist in any way.

I'll be getting what I like. Whether its in the movie or not. I like some of the Energon repaints, although the only one I really want is Skyblast. Clocker looks cool, and hardtop, also, but since I already have those moulds I might not get them.
Well maybe Hardtop. He's a cool mould.
Now I'm not a completest, and I really don't need their to be a show, or movie to coincide with my figure purchases. If i like a figure I'll get it.
With that said, i passed on old camaro bumble bee, and instead will get 08 camaro bumble bee.
I'm seriously thinking of getting Leader Megs.
Leader Prime is in the must buy list, as is Voyager Prime.
However I by no means need to absolutely rule anything out until i see them in person, and even then i might decide later on i want to get Dreadwing (not likely, but you never know). I'm sure I'll be getting some of the game characters. Like the tow truck, and the pickup truck (forget their names)

I love the movie figs. I've always liked the more complex figures and these easily take the cake. I first got Ironhide and couldn't figure converting him back to truck mode for 2 hours, even with the instructions. I just Got Leader Ops yesterday and I'm very happy with him. It doesn't bother me that he doesn't look just like the movie fig. He's a super difficult TF. The only gripe I have is the kibble doesn't lock into place.

Well I like the movie toys, I think they are very advanced part from some of the problems people have had.
I for one love all the toys except a few TV series ones. But I really love the new robot heroes, and it is an aim to try and get Bumblebee.
(Already have Bumblebee movie deluxe)

The only movie design I like is Optimus. I'm still on the fence about the Leader-class version though, so we'll see.

Unfortunatly I can be a completeist with this line. So I've limited my self to Voyagers, Deluxes and FABs of the characters in the movie. Though I may end up grabbing Wreckage. But so far I love this line. All my movie toys sit very comfortably next to my Classics on the shelf.

I have all of the Movie figures in the Deluxe, and Voyager class (except for the non-robovision Prime which comes out later), and Leader Prime. I plan to get the 2008 BB.
Only SOME of the non-movie figures interest me, such as Wreckage. Dropkick looks like a really nice toy to add. The only other ones I would get would be Jazz in classic colors, and Thundercracker. If anything else comes out that is pretty good, then the list will grow.
I won't buy for the sake of buying though. I work much too hard for my money to just throw it away on stuff I really don't care for. I do like the uniqueness of the Movie line, and as long as they keep coming out with decent quality characters, then I'll keep buying (provided I like them).
I very much hope the CLASSICS line continues. I love those things a LOT!!! Same goes for the Alternators. I wish the Titaniums were more abundant, and Cybertron figs didn't disappear so quickly as it seemed to.
It Hasbro makes crappy Transformers from the new upcoming crappy cartoon, I will NOT get them. That cartoon is an abomination. Cheaply made Cartoon Network no-talent crapola.

LOL, he really does come off as if he is trying to find out what the fandom is buying sometimes doesn't he. To bad that the sampling data from Siebertron would be inconclusive and not particularly helpful to the marketing team. Would be nice to think we could manipulate the course of the transformer future through Skywarp though.
I gave up on being a completetionist of any line when Alternators got crazy with the repaints and limited edition figures. So like most have said i just buy what I like. Now where can I find the insignia pillows? Need those and the wall plaques. And someone needs to make bedsheets for a queen sized bed. Came on this is a 23 year old series, we know the fandom isn't filled with 8 year old boys anymore. I want adult sized bedding.

The only Movie figure I like is Prime. I'll probably get him once the Movie come out or if I see it in store whenever I got a chance. To me, the rest of the Movie figures look like crap (not the toy itself of course). I'm referring to the Movie design itself. Can't stand the faces and most of them don't have real hand.
