The almost perfect/decent TF toy but ruined by something major, toy thread.

the something major that ruined what you thought could of been a perfect or decent TF toy could include things like as follows: restricted poseabilty, horrible colors. horrible robot head. not enough poseabilty. too many gimmicks. not enough gimmicks. too many annoying lights & sounds. not enough light up sounds & lights. too simple of a transformation. too hard of a transformation. under detailed, over detailed. too small, too big. misproportioned, too exspensive, wrong size scale,etc....

Here's my short list below:

1- ROTF Leader sized megatron. the toy design had what it took to be the best megatron movie-verse toy of all time. the whole toy was ruined by having the tank turrent right robot arn having no elbow joint,no moving fingers/wrist,no rotate 360 svilvel joint in the arm.

2-Alternators Sideswipe, such a beatiful sculpt in both modes. the toy is ruined by having extremly limited range of movement in the walking hip joints & restricted joints in the knees.

3- Dotm ultimate optimus prime. a awesome sculpted toy in all modes. the toy is ruined by having the brick-former trailer in super combiner robot mode with almost no poseabilty below the waist.

4-generations thunderwing,a beautiful toy. almost perfect but bruined by being a deluxe size toy & not a voyager or ultra sized toy.

5-titanium 6 inch rodimus prime. best designed rodimus prime toy. ruined by being too small, should have been leader sized.

6-botcon convention & club toys. awesome toys but ruined by the scalpers who over charge for them on the secondary on-line market, mainly ebay.

7-energon sharticon, awesome toy ut ruined by not being voyager sized.

8-classics 2.0 ultra sized powerglide ruined by being over sized & misproportioned.

9-Takara masterpiece MP Megatron. ruined by having pin joints in the hips & waist. too skinny & too tall. the arm canon is over sized which makes the robot mode tip to the heavier side.

10-classics 2.0 deluxe galvatron ruined by being too tiny. should have been ultra sized.

11- Dotm Cyberverse Hatchet. awesome idea but way too small in size. i would have preffered it be voyager sized. so a white repaint could have been released & called skylynx.

Agree on all except botcon. The toys are exclusives, and sites normally charge them correctly as ive seen. Those are the figures you are not meant to go after, i see it as more of a souvenir... And if it was cheap, and everyone could get it, it wouldn't be much of an exclusive now would it? ;)

Animated Arcee, one of the best female transformer toys ever, ruined by her swords needing adjustment to save her poor dainty thumbs...

and trying to get hold of her in the first place.

ARGH.

Beast Machines Nightscream, awesome, save for the ludicrous fringe and being much too big.

Moreorless the enitre Armada range, for having such limited articulation.

Energon Shockwave/blast, amazingly cool, but ruined by that silly waist hinge (mine broke! Got him a new body though-DOTM voyager SHockwave, which is even cooler and NOT ruined by anything).

Alternators Windcharger, ruined by his gimped gun (lucky Japanese and their die-cast metal toys with full length rifles mutter mutter...) and his bonnet breaking off (happened to mine).

the entire ALternators line, awesome, and completely to scale with each other, but woefully out of scale with everyone else.

Voyager class ROTF Demolishor, for having an unconvincing excavator mode and being too small.

Of course, I still like all of them, they just could have been better.

There are so many things to list that it's just not worth my time, but that's how I became a kitbasher!

I will mention THS-02 though, as my only real gripe is that he is way to small. Such an amazing amount of awesome crammed into such a tiny package but Japanese micro engineering just went too far.

DOTM deluxe soundwave. He has a cool bot and veh mode, but lack a shiny paintjob (if ROTF sideswipe can do it, he can too!) and his back kibble cannot be moved out of the way. :-(

4,5,7: Size doesn't matter. They are perfect figures nevertheless.
<-> 10: Except, well, in this case, size limits the articulation and the overall figure. He was clearly designed as a bigger figure.

My choice:
Universe Unicron: two major defect that separates it from being the perfect Unicron: the planet-mouth, that has the Armada design and not the G1; and the half-sphere place where Unicrons moon-icon goes in planet mode - but it's and awesome figure other than those problems.

RoTF Leader Optimus Prime. If the swords would slide out instead of flip out, it would be perfection.

DOTM Striker Prime, now I know it's not really the toy but being where I was, there was no way to get those awesome swords cheap.. If it had those swords, it would be awesome, it's still great btw.

But the swords come packaged with the toy. if you want the swords you needed to buy the toy.

Wrong
