My guess is,Hasbro's gonna re-name the new mold generations toy line in 2012,if their is one in 2012.

My solid guess,Is major retail stores don't like to order that much from older TF toy lines they recognize.

My guess is Hasbro will try to trick retailers into thinking the new molds 2012 generations TF toy line, isn't the same thing & it's new. Ofcause knowing hasbro Their gonna try to jam in as many RTS/Generations/Classics TF toys from previous years via repaints & maybe some newer headsculpts.

I just don't see hasbro using the generations nor RTS toy line names. for any newer mold line in 2012.

Hasbro doesn't have to trick retailers into anything. They're the largest toy company in the world with a billion dollar movie in their pocket. They can seriously have all the box art for 2012 giving the buyer the finger and it'll still sell. If they want to keep Generations they can or even go back the Classics or Universe or Hunt for the Decepticons if they wanted. Toys R Us will still clear 4 or so rows on the shelf for it.

On the other hand, they haven't reused a line name so far. Every time Classics has come back after hiatus it has had a new name.

Thing is, they have to change names to keep retailers interested into buying their stock. Retailers aren't stupid, they have a set limit for longevity of a line, for toys it's usually one or two years. They won't buy up anything older unless it's discounted. That's why we have subline imprints like "Unicron Battles", "AllSpark Power", and "Reveal the Shield".

I'd actually keep the packaging if that were the case.

Well, after the TF Prime first editions, the toys will be packaged uner the "Robots in Disuise" name. That will be a name reuse for a line.

I just hope the new Classics style line isn't littered with FoC figures. Give them their own line like the Prime toys h e been given.

There's a reason why we call the second Classics line "Universe 2.0".

The first Universe line ran from '03-'05 and the second line was in '08 all the while the first brand is still available to this day nine years later in secondary and dollar stores. As long as they don't call the line something obviously dated like "Revenge of the Fallen" they'll be fine. Transformers sell no matter what.

And it's because we had a Universe line in 2003, which was a repaint-only line. It did bring two molds to the US: BWII Hellscream and BW Neo Big Convoy ;)

With fans the Universe line from 2008 is fully known as "Universe: Classics 2.0"

congratulations that is definitely a guess.

seems likely to me, seeing as how they do tend to change the name of the line every year, even when it's a continuation of last years. (even if it's just a subtitle added), but yes. Is this thread meant to promote idle random, pointless speculation on what the line will be called?

I'd prefer the FOC figures ( if their are any) be included in the new molds 2012 fan catered TF toy line--(if their is one). similar to what WFC did.

Personally I noticed extremly small TF sub line's don't sell that great under their own banner. Examples: titanium 6 inch & alternators.

That's because those were lines marketted to adult collectors instead of kids. Also they required more enginerring and designwork than the average figures. Or in the case of Titanium, the cost of materials involved in their construction.

But sometimes, Hasbro misses loads of opportunities to earn.

Like on Leader Starscream and Prime. They could easily repackage them in DOTM packing, and re-issue them. Bam, instant cash.

Seriously, people would buy em. Iv'e seen people pass on Leader Starcream cos he was "old" and in a "yellow box".

I'm waiting on a repaint myself. In 2007 colors, and I'm not getting the Masterpiece repaint!

Personally,i think if hasbro would have released a repaint of HFTD Starscream in skywarp colors with a newer g-1 styled seeker head sculpt earlier in the DOTM toy line,it would have sold decent.

IMHO,Instead of another ROTF Leader size repaint of optimus in the DOTM toy line. I think earlier in the DOTM toy line DA-15 Jetwing prime would have sold decent.

Sadly, instead hasbro gave us DOTM Ultimate optimus & in 2012 the trilogy deluxe optimus with a beyond over sized trailer.
