Im not sure how but i appear to have suddenly become a collector of the classics hotrod mould...
Hotrod is an OK character in my eyes but he was never one of my favs or anything but its strange because without realising it i appear to have almost every version of the classics mould here

wildrider
battle in space
classics with reprolabels
classics with protector armour on
kotoys diy hotrod kit

the only ones i seem to be missing are the rts+clear proector and henkei version

has anyone else suddenly realised they seem to be collecting alot of 1 mould without noticing it?

Funny you should mention Seekers... I'm a big fan of jets, but for some strange reason, most of them are either Starscream or Skywarp. Thundercracker is barely catching up in my collection count.

huh...i didnt even notice that too till you mentioned it...aside from the kotoys rainmakers i seem to have alot of classics seekers

wow i really want to kotoys death starscream now even more. I cant belive i didnt notice i got all these seekers to.

looking at it i seem to have alot of classic prime moulds as well

i dunno if i should be ashamed or not but i seem to have x2 galvatrons as well (the classic mould)

I rarely collect more than 2 of the same mold. Only exception I make are with seekers and junkions.

Now characters are another story. I've never been a fan of Bumblebee. In fact, as a kid I hated the character in the G1 cartoon. He was constantly getting into trouble with Spike (who I also hated) and always seemed to get his ass handed to him in every fight. But since the movies, I've apparently collected well over 20 different versions of the guy! Dare I say, I've even come to find his character likable! ...Well...ate least his Movie, Animated, and Prime counterparts are likable. I still hate G1 BB, lol.

I also collect DCUC, do they count? they are always using the same molds for figures

I'm a fan of Hot Rod and his Classics mold, but I think the reason you're getting so many of this version is simply because the repaints and special editions are being offered. I also have several incarnations of this mold and will continue to buy if more versions are released (United Rodimus Convoy anyone?).

As others mentioned, the Seekers mold is another I have a lot of. I can only "blame" the creators of G1 for this, as I think it's fine to have multiple characters using the same jet design but with different color schemes. The KOs didn't help the matter, finally giving us access to the Rainmakers, Ghost versions of all characters, Gold/Silver/Black Death figures, etc. The NFL should lease the mold and make a Seeker with colors for each team (although I'm good calling Black Death SS the Saints mascot).

As long as there's a good reason to release repaints/redecos, I'll still buy these figures. I guess there are more out there who share these feelings.

I somehow ended up with all four versions of the scout movie motorcycle mold: Knockout, Trenchmouth, Reverb, and Backfire.

Without realizing it, I have been collecting every type of optimus prime that is in my price range! :p

I don't buy repeated molds so this hasn't happened to me but I did notice that I had quite a few Megatrons and OPs so I made more of an effort to buy more.

I think I have more RID Prowl molds than anything... standard Rid Prowl, "Super" Rid Prowl, then botcon Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, then Redalert, and I am pretty sure there are a couple more of him in there somewhere!
Same story with the spychangers... I think I have like four complete sets of them from RID colors on... one being the tiny tin, basically for the tiny tin!
