How can this be worth that much? Surely an item in such bad condition cant be worth that much money or am i missing something?

I have noticed this seller trying to sell alot of sub-par quality toys for really high prices, so i suggest you steer clear of this guy.

Heh, well it's the buyer's descretion. Obviously the seller's not really smart at all when it comes to toys in bad conditions, but he has sold quite alot.

The box is in bad shape, but the toy looks o.k. no scratches or pain chippings. And its a Triple changer Sandstorm. maybe a tad high, but not uncommonly so.

Isnt the toy missing a whole front end? Most of this sellers toys are missing large chunks like the canopy on G1 wheeljack etc etc.

I dont know how they manage to sell so much.

I've bought from this guy recently, good seller IMO. The thing with eBay is an item's only worth what the highest bidder is willing to pay, if someone wants an item bad enough they will pay as much as that.

Nope, that's the way it is. Sandstorm doesn't have a front end to cover the black engine. So it really isn't missing anything, not even his gun.

Oh, my bad then. But i have seen many things from this seller that are in pieces and yet they still want top buck for it.

I dunno...just everything i see from them is just way too expensive when you could look a little more and find the same thing in better condition for less from someone else.

Well, the main title is deceiving, Boxed does not mean used toy that comes with a box, same thing with people who say MIB sometimes, I have had people try to pass off things people opened with exacto knife and carefully resealed as MIB.

I emailed him and asked how the thing is boxed and open at the same time.

Boxed does mean comes with a box, clearly. And if you reseal the box, you can still legitimately sell it as MIB (Mint In Box), but not MISB (Mint In Sealed Box, which implies that it hasn't been opened.

The thing's boxed and open at the same time because it comes in the original box, but it isn't sealed. How hard is that?

As to the original post, I wouldn't pay that much myself for Sandstorm (certainly nowadays), but then I did once pay £40 for a Darkwing in similar condition...

I see a LOT of ebay rip-off merchants, especially when it comes to exclusives (not necessarily TF exclusives either). When Masters of the Universe Keldor SDCC exclusive came out, the scalpers seemed to get their hands on a ton of them. A $20 item was listed for +$100 on ebay. :-x That's just rediculous. The only way to drive those folks off is to not buy at their prices. They don't want the stuff they are selling usually, so holding off can work to your advantage. Sadly, there are too many nimrods who drive up the bids, and there are still like 6 days left of the auction.

Sometimes, they get their friends to start a little bidding war. Then, after the item has been "sold", they come back to you, the guy who listed his max bid at $40 less than the selling price, to claim the item because the 12 biders higher than you "flaked".

Pretty fishy stuff there.

just go to eBay with a BUDGET. A Maximum you will pay, for say, a G1 C9+ Scorponok, for example. And DO NOT EXCEED that price.

In this way, you help control inflated bidding.

Let some other sucker pay $275 for a $180 figure.

Oh yeah, I know that seller to, I avoid him like the black plague. What a con artist. Those prices are more insane than Galvatron in Season 3+4!
