I reckon it's the egregious price tag that turns everybody off. Which is very understandable. Plus he's not too loveable as a character either.
But he looks damn good!

Or it could be nobody cares because he serves no purpose beyond looking kinda cool. If it were a $12 deluxe, sure, but for over two bills, you need to have more purpose than just looking neat. That's why I got rid if Black Convoy. He looks pretty sweet, which is why I originally bought him, but he just didn't serve any real purpose...and took up a lot of space. Kinda feeling the same about MP Ghost Starscream, too. He at least has a bit more purpose, but I question if it's enough to warrant the space he takes up...I already know the answer is no, but unfortunately I can't get back anywhere near what I paid for him.
I don't mind a black colored TF toy,as long as it has a decent persona & not just their to be a 1/2 of a 1-D Persona. I kinda like some of my TF toys with fleshed out 3-D persona's.
I use to love black repaints but got tired extremly quickly of the very bland black & grey colors applied to the mold. I sold off all my black colored recolors at a convention I go to & i'm often a dealer in my state.
Personally,A black colored repaint should look better than the original first colors & not worse. IMHO,MP Rodimus Prime in his first colors clearly looks better than the black+grey+blue repaint.
IMHO,If your a Rodimus Prime fan & you've only got $200 bucks to buy one colored version. IMHO,Your gonna want the colored version that matches the 1986 TF Movie/season 3.
