An interesting eBay auction has surfaced showing a possible colour variant of the Voyager Ratchet figure. The toy is painted in shinier, "golden" tone instead of the neon green of the regular figure.
No word on whether this variant will be available in stores, or if this is just a factory second or something of the like.
See the auction here.

With that price is has to be a prototype or a production mess up. It looks better though. To bad Hasbro didnt make Ratchet like that in the first place.

Green is a tough color to batch, I wouldn't be suprized if the next run of this figure is a different shade as well.

The Ratchet I saw today at Zellers had a different door colour than the rest of the body.

Even with the variant I vote it for having the nastiest colour scheme of any of the new movie figures. Has anyone even seen an emergency vehicle in green colour tones?

This brings up something I had noticed but never mentioned. One of the TRU's near me had a few Ratchets that looked different. The doors paint actually matched the rest of the plastic perfectly. I haven't seen this anywhere else though. Every other Ratchet I've seen has had the screwy colored doors.

Yup. And you will be soon as well. I don't think it's mandatory yet, but many cities are starting to replace their white and red vehicles with the neon yellow/green versions.

The shinier one looks nicer to me.

I think that it can be considered a slight running change rather than a variant. My Ratchet's doors don't even match the rest of the paint, but I hardly consider it some improtant variation. Just bad QC.

Meh, even if this was a variant, it is not significant enough for me to hunt it down.

Okay, mine looks like the one on the right. So, I guess the one on the left is the different one. They both look like snot green to me. I like mine though. I can buy a lot of good stuff for $90 than that.

The one on the right is in Japan. I just saw it in the toy stores. But it is not as gold as the pictures shows. Just some parts are neon green instead of black.

ya know, I actually LIKE Ratchet for his color of green. it helps the autobots stay more colorful than the decepticons, and it seems like the right color, especially the goldish-green in the actual movie

That is just not right. Green emerg vehicles. What is the world coming to?

Well. They aren't doing it without reason. The green is a highly reflective paint so that even at night you can see it clear as day if there is one pulled to the side of the road. The whole purpose is to stand out and they do a really good job of that.
