Loving a mold/character that you buy it twice

Recently I've found myself buying some figures twice so I can have them displayed in both alt and bot modes together. Mostly Alt/binaltech figures as they are my idea of 'The Perfect Transformer'.
I bought 90% of the Binaltech line when it was current 5-6 years ago. But now find myself seeking out my favs again. Anyone else find the urge to do this?

I also own most of the Alternators line, and just started picking up the Binaltech figures that didn't make it here. Seeing the prices of some BT figures that are pretty affordable, I might start getting the Takara versions of a few Alts I have.

Otherwise, I don't own too many duplicates for alt/robot modes. I am tempted to get duplicates of combiners, for individual and gestalt modes.

Damn, forgot the 1 mold/character you just HAVE to buy twice (at least): RTS Wreck-Gar!!! It's so worth posing robot on alt mode, he's a total badass!

Aside from examples where I've bought a figure to replace a broken or aging model the only times where I have bought EXACTLY the same figure are a spare RTS Wreck Gar to ride the original and an extra PCC Leadfoot to live on my desk at work.

I do own plenty of repaints though. And there are some molds (RTS Lugnut, DOTM Skyhammer) that I would buy repaints of in a heartbeat but Hasbro apparently don't want my money.

Doubles I own are WFC Bee and CJ, Generations Thunderwing and Black Shadow, (soon to be Metalhawk added) and Classics Starscream with Universe Sunstorm and Generations Thunderwing.

I bought theDotM voyager Optimus Prime and found I hated the mold... and I bought the DotM voyager Fireburst Optimus Prime just to have his mechtech axe. Beside, his vehicle mode is not too shaby and he was on sale.

DotM deluxe Bumblebee impressed me. Unfortunately, I'll have to pay 30$ for the Scan version on Ebay.

Animated voyager Starscream. Got a complete one, used off Ebay. Cat trhow it from the shelf, pieces start flying and goes missing. Buy another one. Cat ironically find back all the missing pieces. Result: 2 complete toys!

DotM Deluxe Starscream. I plan to keep one sealed and open the other. I openned both!

As for some other examples:

Also, I bought some TF twice to open one and keep the other sealed.

I've bought 2 DOTM Thundercrackers, 2 Generations Thundercrackers (mostly because he is my favorite character and my first Transformer as a child), 2 Sergeant Kups, 2 Generations Scourge, and 2 Generations Wreck-Gar. I love me some Generations figs!!!

I bought a second BW Neo Big Convoy. Both modes are so full of win that I had to display them both.

I have tons of dup molds due to repaints/Takara variants etc., but to me those are really more like separate figures, not precisely the same figure twice.

That is an amazing Starscream display! Love it. :APPLAUSE:

As for the topic, I try to avoid duplicates of specific figures, the only ones I own were accidental (gifts/bought to exchange/random packed, etc). But I do buy lots of repaints if I like the mold and they're either a character I care about or they just look really cool. Wreckgar & Junkheap, for example.

I've bought Skystalker twice and the repaint Sunspot. That mold is excellent IMO and i want it to continually be released in crazier and crazier colours with every consecutive release. It has soooo much potential in that regard. My draw dropped when i say him in the matte colours for Sunspot.

I want that mold in every colour and combination thereof under the rainbow.

Other than to replace a broken toy or getting a superior (usually Japanese) repaint?

Well, I have 20th Prime and got MP-04 to have the trailer and to have one without paint chips.

I also have about 17 Dead End minicons, most of them from Armada / Universe.

After that it's usually different decos. Like the Sideswipe mold, Unicron, Scourge, the Seekers (along with their KO brethern), and classics Hot Rod (big time).

Skystalker and Sunspot. LOVE that mold, and I do hope Hasbro repaints it a few more times. I'd love a purple Ratbat-themed deco (I'm certain Mindwipe is got to be repainted as Soundwave down the line, Ratbat-Skystalker makes perfect sense), and perhaps a red Laserbeak deco (the mold can pull of a mean "bird-bot" mode).

Of course, Sunspot and Skystlaker play off each other so nicely. Got a yin-yang vibe between them, which doesn't leave much room for a third, fourth, etc..

(Sunny's head is intentionally upside-down, the silver part now acting as a visor, to differentiate from his ro-bro)

I;m glad i'm not alone with the Skystalker love. ;)

I desperately want the Smokescreen repaint but it's a little too out of my price range.

I usually only get one character, but I'm more than happy to get any and all repaints.

Why, thank you! Them LED are pricey but get the job done! I'm currently into buying a deluxe White Takara Screamers to replace the Hasbro Gray one. Once I finally get it, the display will be PERFECT.

No, cos I'd run out of space sooner if I did that! Also, sometimes I display figs in alt mode, sometime bot mode. My display changes gradually.

I don't usually do that but recently I was afraid of not getting the FE Arcee, I went and pre-ordered the Takara one but had no confidence whatsoever so when I saw the Hasbro one in ToyRus I went ahead to get her, 2 weeks later the Takara one arrived. I was this paranoid because of TFA Arcee, almost didn't get her due to her being out of stock from the shop I pre-ordered from.

The others are like exact character repaints, I got the Fallen twice due to the 2nd fallen in the ROTF 3 pack with SW and Megs. The other one being legends BB, got him as a gift and than me buying the shiny Battle Ops BB and finally the 2 pack with the purple DOTM Megatron. That BB had a cool blaster though.

I bought two Generations Thundercrackers. One repainted to Skywarp so I don't have to hunt down the Classics one anymore.

I bought two RTS Jazz. One repainted to Stepper.

I bought two DOTM HAB Backfires and two DOTM HAB Whirls because my other figures need weapons. Backfires and Whirls were never displaying as alt mode or bot mode on my display.

I bought another Animated Bumblebee because my son nearly broke his first one.

I will buy repaints if they represent a different G1 character (seekers). I like when they do a remold. I will buy every one of those.
