BOXES. SO MANY BOXES.

I have enough. My closet is fulled to the rim and I want to make some room because I'm not done buying ****.
I always keep ALL of my boxes, for collectible value. But I've been thinking. What's the point? So I'm throwing all of these mofo out. I already crushed and dumped out most of them by now.
I did keep some boxes. I keep all the asian boxes, the ones that store too many accessories, the ones that are vintage or are for Masterpieces or Exclusives. I also keep one box for each American lines.
Still, I feel like I did not gain much space. Both Unicrons, 2010 Primus, Cutey Honey, Gold Battle Ops Bumblebee, all take so much space.
Maybe I will throw some more away eventually.
Are you one to keep your empty boxes? Who will be dumb enough to pay 20$+shipping for a stupid EMPTY box on Ebay?

I'm starting to have the same problem with boxes, which is why I'm super picky with what I buy these days. FE Arcee, and maybe RID Soundwave, and that's it for the TF Prime line.
I'll probably be sticking to Takara's United, MP and Alternity lines from now on.

I only keep the pretty ones. That's united e-hobby, book reissues and G1/G2. All the rest... Crush, kill, destroy.

I foresee myself having this issue in the future. Lol. Every now and then I go into super crazy cleaning mode, so when the day comes I have too many empty boxes they'll likely meet the round file... well, a few already have simply because I didn't want to keep them from the get-go (ie: k-mart exclusive HA's and Leader Ironhide).
But hey, with any luck you'll be able to sell a few and make some (laughable) money. I certainly wouldn't argue if someone was willing to pay me for a box I was otherwise going to pitch.

I have totes and bigger boxes full of deluxes cards and boxes to bigger figures right now but its not a long term solution. Its not out of control since its organized in my basement, but I think I going to start pitching all the plastic from the deluxe cards and pitching open bigger boxes that wont have any value. Probably will keep all the 3rd party or cool looking ones though.

I throw away literally all the boxes except those like Kre-O, Alternity, Predaking and the Disney Line.

I see I'm not the only one with box problems.

Heh, box problem.
I don't usually keep boxes, but I've made a couple exceptions. Beast Wars Neo Big Convoy, the Korean one. Huge, great art. Very nice shape too, didn't have the heart to toss it.
Also the TRU re-issue Soundwave, with the big opening flap and the SW cutout that unfolds as you open it. What a great gimmick.
I do keep cardbacks sometimes, and the front or backs of boxes, like ROTF Devastator and Movie Ultimate Bee.

I chose long ago that unless the figure is inside, it's a Takara MP or a vintage G1 it's gotta go! Because in the end you're gonna come to the inevitable and why sacrifice an actual figure in the space of an empty box...'nuff said!

I can't throw my boxes out. Luckily I have a big crawl space. I throw all of mine in garbage bags and put them in my crawl space.

for myself all carded toys are xactoed free of their bubble and filed in binders with instructions and accessories.
all boxes are broken down as flat as possible and placed in a rubbermaid bin with the binders on top to flatten.
it takes up little space that way and you get the best of both worlds

A lot of people didn't keep their G1 boxes either, which is why a figure in an opened box still fetches a ton of cash.

Sounds like you need more display room. I love the box art as much as the figures.
They are part of the total package
For others I just put them in big boxes and keep them out of the way. But yeah, I find it hard to get rid of packaging too. Heck, the Marvel stuff tells you to keep the packaging
Honestly, I bought Ultimate Optimus Prime more for the packaging than the figure.

Before I got my own place I had a lot of stuff still in it's boxes.
Which is why I had tubs and tubs and tubs of TF's.
Busting them out for display, it occurred to me that if I put the boxes back into the tubs, I wouldn't have enough room.
So the boxes and backing cards went. I also kept some boxes (mostly the Japanese stuff) and that takes up the top shelf in my linen cupboard. I then have an entire tub full of instructions.

I like to keep the backing card to deluxes, the instructions and any other leaflets or card inserts on/behind the plastic packing.
Since picking up the movieverse voyagers I've also had a box problem. My plan soon is to throw away the plastic boubles the figures come in and just keep the outside cardboard box/leaflets and fold it flat.
I love the designs on some of the deluxes/voyager packing, such a shame people throw it a away.

I clip the bios for the vast majority. My MP, G1 boxes are kept, but that's about it. For my third-party and Japanese imports I take out the plastic and cardboard and simply fold them up.

I keep certain boxes, mostly those that can store the figure securely(most of Fan Project's with their clamshell style, Hasbro SE figures, Grand Patriot's FunPub style box) since my wife's military and we potentially move every 3-4 years and it will help protect more expensive figures. I also kept Animated Blackout,United Megatron, and United Lugnut's boxes cause, well, I did.

Unlike my taste in ladies, I like my boxes flat.

The vast majority of my boxes get tossed. I keep boxes that have a collectible look to them, i.e. TRU re-issues, MPs, and the like. Usually, if I like the box enough, I'll keep the figure MISB. But most are opened and tossed. Boxes today just aren't as accessible as the old G1 boxes.
The way figures are packed today with the tabs through the cardboard everywhere and plastic bubbles that feel like they are cemented on sometimes, its hard to get the figures out without completely destroying the box.

I toss 'em. Anything that looks like it might fetch a few $$$ I sell on eBay. I've made a few $100 back just by selling the boxes over the years.
