im trying to stop buying the less important characters. so i'd like to hear from anyone who already has alot of the major characters.

these are the ones I want to focus on...

Optimus... I have the Cybertron leader, WFC Deluxe, DOTM deluxe,
DOTM (jetpack) Cyberverse, small (G2 style) universe figure, Animated cybertronian deluxe, cybertron (armada mold) deluxe.

Megatron.... I really need to get more Megatrons.
I have the, first Movie leader, WFC deluxe, legends class G1,
DOTM cyberverse with trailer set.

Starscream.... at the moment I think he's become my favorite.
I have the, DOTM Mechtech, Legends Cybertronian, Legends class G1,
DOTM legends scanning version.

I know there have been (and likely will alawys be) alot of differnt molds/versions of these characters, I currantly have alot of less important figures, which I plan to keep but not always display.

the other ones im most interested in are
Soundwave and Rodimus(Hotrod?/Hotshot?)


I have Generations deluxe Rodimus, Legneds G1 rodimus,
armada powerlinx Hotshot (who I consider to be either a clone or brother or reincarnation of Rodimus)

then theres, animated deluxe soundwave, ROTF legends soundwave,
and the G1 style soundwave.

Im have quite a few Bumblebees, and if I can get enough megatrons and starscreams, I might deicde to boost my Bumblebee collection with the Prime versions. (but of course he's last on my list)

But first it's Megatron and Starscream that im looking for.

im I think i'll put together a list of the figures I most want. guess I shoould search the Toy gallerys to see what ones im missing.

I wont be going for the older versions of them. unless I can get a decent deal somewhere. I'll be looking for them in stores, on amazon and maybe on ebay becuase I got a sweat deal on that armada powerlinx hotshot.

with all that said, I just want to know if anyone has a large collection of megatron, optimus, or starscream.

I think anyone who collects Transformers tends to have a disproportionate number of Prime and Megatrons. How many do you need to have for it to be a "large collection"? Off the top of my head I think I have about 15 Primes and 10 Megatons in a collection of about 300.

that's kind of what I thought. Megatrons are slightly harder to come by then optimus. I'd like to limit my collection to Megatron and optimus, with starscream and bumblebee, but very few others beucase I just cant keep track of who's who.
sometimes I forget which bot' is longrack or longarm or longhual, so I wamt to keep it simple with the bots most everyone can reconize.


i understand that it is true that it's most TF collections won't have an equal set of optimus primes and megatrons. by large collection, i meant perahps, for example, one could have like, around 5 or more of each major character? (maybe less if they're expensive ones) Im not really sure.

personally my goal for TF collecting is to be able to show how megatron and optimus have changed over the years and throughout the various TF prouduct lines.

I have around 15 Starscreams..... I think! I'm always looking for more since he's my favorite.

I do things different theres nothing more i want than a new character, off the top of my head i only have 3 optimus primes 5 megatrons 6 starscreams 3 soundwaves and 2 bumblebees off your list

i have couples of other TF but the majority of my collection is made up of single figures, i only buy the same character if it looks totaly different and its from a different line then i dont mind

If im stuck on a line for new figures i look at other lines for random characters who i havent got a version of at all or what i think looks the better repaint/tool.

I have a few things not on your list like G2 and machine wars starscreams, laser and machine wars optimus, G2 megatron for trade or available.

I have a lot more Primes than Megatron's. IMO, Megatron hasn't had a good alt mode since G1.

I have at least two's of Optimus and two Megs. They outrank most of my collection.

I'm sporting about 47 Megatrons, 31 Optimus Prime/Convoys(including Nemesis & Super Black, which I mainly go for of the character), 8 Soundwave/Soundblaster & 5 Shockwave/Shockblast. Don't get me started on Constructicons/Constructicon homages as they get dedicated space as well. Total count of figures is around 350. I recently gave away around 60 or so.

EDIT: Forgot the 24 Starscreams.

I've definitely got more Primes than anything. Classics, WFC, Animated Voyager, DotM Ultimate and Starry Battlehooks and Prime Voyager.

I think the last time I counted I had something like 60 Optimus Primes, 50 Megatrons, 18 Ultra Magnus', more than 10 Nemesis/Scourges, about 40 Seekers (just Starscream, Thundercracker, & Skywarp), and over a dozen each of Jazz, Grimlock, Hot Rod/Rodimus, Soundwave and a small army of Bumblebee/Cheetor/Hot Shots. I really didn't bother with DOTM and the Prime toys aren't wowing me. Well, the First Editions are but as I don't have the Hub, I don't feel the need to spend all that money on them.

This is counting stuff like Robot Heroes, Legends, etc.

Collection total is about 950 right now.

I have a large shelf crammed with Megatrons and Optimii that don't fit in elsewhere, as well as the Megs and OPs that DO fit it.

At first, I was supposed to ONLY collect Optimus Prime Trasnsformers.

But you know how THAT went.

I have LOTS of different TF right now, but I collect some characters in priority over the others. Here's how much I have of the main ones, most of them are differents molds and lines:

Optimus Prime: 32

Starscream: 29

Bumblebee: 17

Megatron: 8

Rodimus/Hotrod: 8

Arcee: 6

Shockwave: 5

Jazz: 4

Hound: 4

If I find more of these guys, I'll add them to the collection, except for Jazz, who must mirror Hound.

I have 20 each of Primes and Megatrons, and they match. I also have 6 or 8 of Grimlock and Hot Rod/Rodimus each. Other than that, I collect sparingly, and due to space restrictions, I'm probably going to be selling my bigger Primes and Megatrons.

I was just thinking about this the other day, and I think I came up with somewhere around 25 Optimus Primes, far more than any other character. I think about 8-9 of them are just movie OPs, and I don't particularly care for the movie toys, lol.

This doesn't even count redecos as other characters like white ones as Ultra Magnus, or black ones as Scourge.

I would guess Mega/Galvatron would be in the number two place, but I'm not going to try counting those up.

Bumblebee would be up there as well, even though I have come to loathe seeing the "yellow terror" clogging up the pegs in the toy aisle. Strange considering that a few years ago there hadn't been a Bumblebee at all in ages. DAMN YOU MICHAEL BAY! lol

I've gotten a lot of Starscreams as well, but I don't think even in the league of the other three I mention. Hell, I never even had a G1 'screamer.

Easy fix. Just buy a re-issue brand new for about 50-60$. Sure, he's kinda ugly with zero posability, but no true Starscream fan can go without it.

Hell, any true seeker fan must have at least an example of the classic G1 seeker mold.
