Seibertron.com continues with our with our lead up to gallery entries for Takara's latest Encores Soundblaster and Twincast. You've seen the origin of Enemy, now it's time to take a look at Encore Soundblaster's other new cassette repaint, Wingthing. Wingthing traces his family tree back to the Action Master line where he made his debut as Soundwave's minion, a robotic bat that could transform into a blaster. Wingthing is reborn in the Encore line as a repaint of G1 Ratbat. Check out the original version in the full Action Master Soundwave with Wingthing gallery below.

If we're going to give you a gallery of Action Master Soundwave we might as well bring Action Master Blaster with Flight Pack along for the ride!

From today's perspective, it seems almost funny that these were introduced as the new, super-poseable kind of transformer, that woul even sacrifice the transformation for that purpose... Different times, I suppose. :D

I'm shocked Wingthing didn't get his own gallery since every other character-based accessory does here, like Minicons, Targetmasters, or Headmasters.

Anyhow, nice galleries. It's nice to see Action masters get a little love now and then.

I was really torn about this. Normally, that's my rule. However, when it came to the Action Masters I didn't give the previous Action Master animal partners separate galleries so I wasn't sure how to handle this. Normally, my rule is each individual character gets its own unique gallery. Wingthing is the first Action Master partner to graduate to having its own unique toy.

Should Wingthing, Catgut, Razor-Sharp, and Gatoraider have their own unique galleries?

What about the old school robotic partners like Push-Button, Fistfight and Glitch?

What should my rule be going forward for the Action Master partners?

I think the AM praters ought to get their own galleries. They aren't really any different from a Targetmaster. And they're more independent than a Headmaster or a Brainmaster, either of which you could really say are just an extension of the larger robot form. It might be a little inconsistent within the AM line itself (since Blaster's "partner" is a flight pack), but it's much more in line with the rest of the site, which IMHO, is more important.

Oh, and slightly off topic ... I noticed Spike and Sparkplug were in the G1 section and not the 3rd party section.

Something to ponder then while I'm finishing up the new Twincast and Soundblaster galleries today.

Thank you for pointing this out. This has been fixed. They appear in both sections now, but with the proper "3rd party" category designation.

i like to see them in the same gallerie keeps it simple, when im looking for which ever character i expect to see him posed with his partner as a weapon robot or alt mode it keeps the photos more interesting instead of looking at as single figure without all its accessories.

Is there a G1 Mindwipe gallerie?.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that if it has an alt mode that is humanoid or creature, then I would love to see it with a separate gallery. So many of these guys are just lumped into the accessory category with the main figure which really limits the number of good pics that can be found of them.

If you look at the gallery of the Action Masters, you'll see that I didn't cheap out on their partners. The pics are there for them to have their own separate galleries, just wasn't sure how to handle Action Masters since the "partner" aspect is so inconsistent with them.

IMO, site constancy should trump product consistency. It's really the same argument as to why RotF Devestator was separated out by character, only the argument for Wingthing is stronger since he's more obviously his own character.

A good argument would be that Action Master partners often had their own MTMTE profile by Dreamwave, as they're characters in their own right.
On the flip side, how many of the Action Master accessories and vehicles are actually characters?

Vehicles, none. Accessories about 1/2 I believe.

The good thing about action masters is they pioneered the way for ball joints and increased posability. But the whole idea of writing a story as to why they couldnt transform was stupid to me. Instead of calling the line action masters, they should have called it "Fan Favorites" because thats what many of them were. Kind of like the Dicast, Mighty Muggs, and Robot Heroes lines. Sure the line eventually released new characters like Banzai-tron and Slicer, but the original concept was for posability, not another continuity.

Action Master Wingthing has a cool black head. Encore Wingthing has a sucky orange head. :-(
