What to buy

...With all the toys coming between now and most likely Fall of Cybertron Line later this year, I have NO CLUE what to invest. My Collect went from 1 to 30 in 2 months. So I'm lookin for a bit of help from the community. I'm committed to Giant, PE's Ratchet and Ironhide but not sure what else to get.

The TF Prime RID line I will prolly snag when I get home to visit Cali from over seas. But what else can I get? Here's a few pics of what I've already gotten minus The *Not insecticons, first set for Giant, and Hercules and a couple of more in the mail from 1st Edition Prime.

Things I'd like to get but not sure of...

1. Masterpiece MP11-Sunstorm edition
2. MP Hot Rod 2nd Edition
3. PE Arcee
4. MP Grimlocke

....I mean What should I get or wait for or not even bother with.

Signed,
HELP
(pics coming later)

I can't comment on Arcee but these are good purchases, if you have the money. So far it sounds like you have a large budget but I'd recommend defining what you want to collect before spending gets out of hand! It sounds like you're an updated-G1-fan so far but we need more info before we suggest what you buy!

I can already suggest that you not waste your money on the PRID line. This is just my opinion, but the toys are very cheap and not worth the money. Maybe pick up the First Edition stuff, which you will find to be a bit overpriced, but still better than buying the crap of the Prime Robots in Disguise line.

Otherwise, I recommend most Masterpieces, Grimlock being a very sturdy and accurate figure. I am also looking forward to Sunstorm. Avoid Megatron if you can, unless you don't plan to transform him and just display him. Even then, be careful.

If you had to pick 1 line to go with, let it be the Generations line. The pieces are detailed, good paint apps, and fun transformations. They're also great homages to whichever original figure they're based on. They also include some original pieces.

Except Wheeljack, there's nothing wrong with him.

I'm with Rodimus Prime on the new Prime figs. Even though I don't have any except for 1 I've heard enough and seen enough not to bother with the line. The exception to the rule would be RID Soundwave and being a G1 fan I feel it's a great representation of that :CON: . You can't go wrong with most of the Classics/Generations. You'll ultimately go with your gut instinct in the very end but I hope we were able to help you out dude! :VEHI:

Classicsverse stuff is affordable and has the most variety by far. I got annoyed when they re-scaled the Masterpiece figures, and realistically, there will only ever be very few moulds made for it. You can amass a nice classicsverse collection over time, without breaking the bank (unless you want Ultra magnus, Cliffjumper, Skywarp or anything 3rd party :D)

Here's what I got goin on right now...

Like I said I also have the first Set for Giant, rest are pre-orderd, all the NOT insecticons, 1st edition Prime Starscream on the way. I also have two Superion sets for some reason. Don't have the appendage set tho as that's just hard to find.

As for the Prime line RID, it is garbage. I just want Ratchet, Wheeljack, Soundwave and probably powerizer Megs just to have some sort of complete set. When the Takara versions of the other deceps come out I might get those depending on a few reviews.

Now, money is kinda of an issue as I set a budget for the year but I'm not even close to it yet. With that being said, I do know more or less what I do want or would like to have. But i've been out of the TF game for so long I don't want to grab crap(constant weak plastics and loose joints or what not) from weak 3rd party companies. So the help with that is much appreciated. The one I am looking forwards to the most I would say is the Sunstorm and The Igear Ironhide and Ratchet. Those lookin pretty sweet. oh and the MP soundwave....geez-us all the goodies!

You have some nice stuff there, no doubt. I have the black ops scouting force set as well - that is one well-put together set. I'm envious of your Herc as well. My key consideration is space, so I am really trying to avoid anything that I could not display with my classicsverse collection now. This means that i am likely to sell some of my stuff soon.

I get addicted to collecting, so for that reason, I haven't bought any TF: Prime stuff as of yet, even though my mouse cursor has hovered over 'checkout' a few times! Personally, I don't think that Movieverse/Animated/Prime stuff can be displayed with MP or Classicsverse - they just look too different. More power to you if you like to mix them, though.

I drew up some rules and a spreadsheet (yes I am really that sad) to stop me collecting everything TF-related under the sun. So far, it has enabled me to not be too broke, or to overrun my house with TFs. I would ask yourself, what do you ultimately want from your collection? To homage G1? Or to embrace all the new lines? Or both?

Well, there's some pretty good stuff coming out and coming out soon, not to mention whatever awesome upcoming stuff they announce at Botcon in 6 weeks.

As for what's out right now, I'm actually a fan of the PRID line so far. I have Megatron and Wheeljack, and they are both great figures. Wheeljack's transformation has some very unique little tricks that make it loads of fun, and Megatron just looks badass creepy with all the translucent purple.

Also, you mentioned MP Grimlock, and I have to say that he is one of my favorite MP figures. Very sturdy and well-balanced, fun transformation that even homages his G1 transformation a little, and excellent poseability/articulation. MP Grimlock is a must-have. :)

@banjo - I LOVE the Scouting force. That right now next to MP-10 Optimus is my fave. Cool little guys. I'm trying to pace myself now. I now there are a few classics/henkei toys I would like to get and since they are cheaper I might keep up there while throwing in MP-11sunstorm. It's hard to not "click" away cash. Especially after that first purchase. It's just so tempting to keep going and going until you look at your CC bill and say "FAWK". lmao
As far as Space I just have everything together and kinda all over the place now because I still need to find where I'm putting them. My office got converted to the baby room(blows) which will is due in 2 months. So I put all my shelves down in the basement for now until we find a new house. Living in Zürich just makes that hard as hell as everyone wants to live in this city. Anyway, what I'm getting at is I like to keep my things nice a separate as well. just looks nice and organized.

@Savage - I think the Prime line(voyager and deluxe only) is nice with the exception of a few pieces of crap and I can't wait to get to Los Angeles in a month to grab some of those. I think that Line is decent but the Hasbro versions just seem lacking as far as color wise and thank goodness Takara takes care of all of that. But since I'm not in the mood for spending on ALL Takara Primes, I'll be getting as much as I can find in the states. by the way...that MP soundwave is SICK if I haven't mentioned that. lol

I own all of the PRID you mentioned.

Ratchet is surprisingly GOOD. The Revealer gimmick is unobtrusive and actually works well.
Soundwave is the same on the gimmick part. His is simple and doesn't present any problems.
Megatron doesn't receive the love he deserves. Great figure, really.

Here's my recommendation for the line up:

Autobots:
First Edition Arcee (RID's body shape is more accurate, but the backpack and colors are ridiculous.)
First Edition Bulkhead (Expensive, but far more show accurate and complex.)
First Edition Bumblebee (Much, much better than PRID's version, plus no floating head/gimmick problems.)
First Edition Optimus Prime (I kid you not, he's a work of art. So many things to cover on him...)
PRID Ratchet (Shame there wasn't a First Edition, but I tell you...he's a terrific figure.)
PRID Wheeljack (As stated before, rather good figure. His Revealer gimmick is manual instead of automatic/spring driven, so no failed gimmick worries.)

Decepticons:
Powerizers Megatron (I realize he's lacking a lot of paint, unlike the Deluxe F.E., but he's a nice size figure. He's perfectly in scale with his fellow Decepticon figures, especially the ones I've mentioned here.)
First Edition Starscream (The Voyager is out of scale with Megatron, plus it's ugly and inaccurate. Not to mention, if you buy the Cyberverse figure, his Energon weapons will work with the First Edition and make him fully show accurate.)
PRID Soundwave (Amazing that they were able to capture the look of the vehicle mode and robot mode in plastic. Quite faithfully, I might add. Laserbeak is neat.)
First Edition Vehicon (Seriously, the back kibble isn't that bad. It's far outweighed by the figure's awesome. He can't hear you over the sound of how awesome he is. He's actually more accurate than he's given credit for.)

I can't speak for upcoming figures needed to fill the gaps, such as Knock Out, but I believe he has potential. I'm assuming he's just terribly mistransformed, because the proto pictures on the slides at the 'cons showed him to be rather impressive and accurate. I'm willing to give him a chance.

I definitely want to see what they do with Airachnid...
